It’s been all tennis here at DRT this week – playing and trading in the warm-up events for Wimbledon, which begins 3 July.
I will be doing my best to provide comprehensive Wimbledon coverage for you guys and girls on Twitter @drtclub.
We have flexed our muscles pre-Grand Slam. Now the hope is that we can profit as we did in the French Open.
There have been some pre-Wimbledon shockers though. Dominic Thiem losing to the tennis equivalent of a Sunday League pub side without a goalkeeper because he has a hangover and couldn’t turn up.
Muguruza won only three games in straight sets defeat, and World Number 4 Dominica Cibulkova looks more like World Number 444.
Wimbledon will work like this for us traders…
We will make the majority of our gains in the early part of the tournament, exploiting the mismatches which first and second rounds bring.
We will also be distinctly aware that the men’s game is the best of five sets. There is a unique phenomenon in Grand Slam tennis which we can exploit: the 2-0 sets scoreline. Time and again, the 2-0 tends to turn into 2-1 rather than 3-0. This has an obvious reason behind it! If the player 2-0 down does not win the third set, he is out of the tournament!
I am looking forward to Wimbledon and the very fact that we have followed tennis closely for some weeks now, we do get a feel for the players – their idiosyncrasies, their strengths and weaknesses.
Here’s to some solid trading at Wimbledon. See you on Twitter @drtclub!
P.S. For those of you missing the footy, fear not, it is Irish Premier Division night tonight. Hooray!
