DRT Daily Research Bulletin, November 26, 2017

A rare event yesterday. A 1.01 shot not winning a match. Yes, our good show biz pals Dortmund decided they didn't want to concede their usual 2 goals. They'd concede 4 goals while leading 4-1! I advised laying at 1.09 and again at 1.02. 1.01 was available. For every £1 in risk, you win £99! Very rare but very welcome. I will live chat today 14:00 for Italian Seria A. We will be half an hour into the tricky Southampton v Everton match. See you for the live chat. Shortlist at DRT Facebook and the key stats are in bold below.
ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE
13:30 - Southampton v Everton - 1.96 Southampton
- The home team won the last 2 head to heads.
Southampton (14th)
- Only 3 wins.
- Failed to score in only 2 matches.
- Only 1 0-0 at home.
- 3 0-0's at halftime at home.
- Hope defeats came v top 8 teams.
- Opponents have scored first in 4/7 at home.
Everton
- Unbeaten in 2.
- Conceded 2 goals at least in their last 4 matches, and actually won 1 of the matches.
- New manager syndrome remember.
- Only 1 clean sheet came first match of the season.
- No win in 6 away.
- Only 1 0-0 at halftime away.
- Opponents have scored first in 5/6 away.
Conclusions
- New manager syndrome for Everton so we cannot really rely on earlier season form. What we do see is 2 goals scored by Everton under Unsworth. Let's not forget 2 goals conceded at least as well.
- Southampton we know are struggling up front but still they have failed to score in only 2 matches.
- If Unsworth continues the attacking tactics, then both teams I think could score here today.
- I would ultra speculatively back 3-2/2-3 pre match. Note Saints have scored 2 goals twice at home, and Everton are scoring and conceding 2 goals under David Unsworth.
14:00 - Burnley v Arsenal - 1.61 Arsenal
- Arsenal do tend to win head to heads.
Burnley (7th)
- Only 2 defeats v West Brom and Man City.
- 3 consecutive wins.
- Unbeaten in 5 at home conceding 0-0-1-0-0 goals. this could be a niggly one for Arsenal.
- 3 consecutive clean sheets.
- Only 2 over 2.5 goals matches.
- Not met the top 9 at home so good home form needs that context.
Arsenal (6th)
- Only one draw was a 0-0.
- 5 wins in 7 matches.
- Scored and conceded in their last 3 away matches.
- Only 2 0-0's at halftime away.
- Conceded 2+ goals in each of their last 3 away matches.
- Only win v Everton.
Conclusions
- What do we make of the quite emphatic Arsenal win over Tottenham? Do remember that happened at home.
- Away Arsenal are struggling to score (Everton aside). V the currently top 8 sides away, Arsenal scored 1-0-0-1 goals.
- Burnley will be tough to score against.
- I would tentatively back 0-0 pre match and hope it is 0-0 at halftime. Only 2 over 2.5 goals matches for Burnley can help us in this endeavour.
16:00 - Huddersfield v Man City - 1.22 Man City
Huddersfield
- 2 consecutive home wins v Man Utd and West Brom.
- Failed to score in 7 of their last 10 matches despite those 2 consecutive home wins.
- The win v Man Utd saw United pre-Champions League. I think a true portrayal of Huddersfield v big teams came in the 4-0 loss at home to Tottenham and 3-0 away loss to Liverpool.
Man City
- All wins bar a draw.
- Scored 2+ goals in 10 matches.
- Only 2 0-0's at halftime.
- Unbeaten at halftime away.
- Scored first in 5/6 away.
Conclusions
- Quite obviously we head to Man City who played a weakened side mid week at home to Feyenoord and just nicked a 1-0 win.
- City are expected to score 2 goals at least today. City are unbeaten at halftime so lay Huddersfield in the halftime market if Huddersfield score first in the first half.
FRENCH LIGUE 1
14:00 - Nice v Lyon - 2.18 Lyon
- 2-0 Nice and 3-3 in the last 2 matches.
Nice (17th)
- Failed to score in only 4 matches.
- Only 1 win in 7 matches.
- Scored in their last 7 at home.
- No 0-0.
- Only 1 0-0 at halftime at home.
- Scored 4 and 2 goals at home v 2nd and 4th but lost 2-4 v 4th.
Lyon (3rd)
- Only loss was v PSG.
- 4 consecutive clean sheets.
- Failed to score in only 3 matches.
- 3-5-5- scored in their last 3 away matches.
- Unbeaten at halftime away.
- 2+ goals scored home and away v 9th and lower.
- 6 of 6 goals conceded away came 2nd half.
Conclusions
- The market is not hugely warm towards Lyon who have only lost to PSG.
- Nice are scoring at home so note that , but on current form, Lyon should be able to reply should Nice score first.
- Nice have intriguingly scored 2 goals v top 4 at home and play 3rd today. Lyon have scored 13 goals in 3 away so even if 2-0 down, Lyon should still land a blow or two.
- Lyon have the capability of scoring 2 goals at least v teams 9th and lower. They play 17th today.
16:00 - Marseille v Guingamp - 1.54 Marseille
- Guingamp are winning head to heads at home but failed to score in the last 2 visits to Marseille.
Marseille (4th)
- Only 2 defeats.
- Unbeaten in 8 matches.
- Only 1 0-0 at halftime in 11 matches.
- Scored in their last 13 matches.
- 2+ goals scored in their last 3 at home.
- Unbeaten home and away v 12th and lower.
- 100% over 1.5 goals at home.
- 10 of 14 goals scored at home came 2nd half.
- Acored first in 5/6 at home.
Guingamp (15th)
- Only 4 wins.
- 5 consecutive away defeats.
- Failed to score in only 3 matches.
- Only 3 clean sheets.
- Conceded 2+ goals in each of their last 5 away matches.
- All defeats away v top 9.
- 5 of 6 goals scored away came 2nd half.
- Opponents led at halftime in 5/6 away.
Conclusions
- This looks like Marseille's match to lose. Guingamp are conceding 2 goals away, losing and Marseille are unbeaten in 8 matches and are unbeaten home and away v 12th and lower.
- Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market.
- Oppose any Guingamp lead.
20:00 - Monaco v Paris St-G - 1.59 PSG
- The last 3 head to heads have been in cup or friendlies.
- It was actually 1-1 in the last league head to head.
Monaco (2nd)
- Only 2 defeats.
- 5 wins and a draw at home.
- Failed to score in only one match.
- 3 clean sheets in 4 matches.
- Unbeaten at home.
- Unbeaten at halftime at home.
- No 0-0 at halftime at home.
- Scored first in 5/6 at home and led at halftime in 5/6 at home.
PSG (1st)
- All wins bar 2 draws. Unbeaten.
- Failed to score in only 1 match.
- Scored 2+ goals in each of their last 6 matches.
- Only 1 0-0 came away.
- 3 0-0's at halftime away.
- Draws away v 4th and 8th.
- 12 of 17 goals scored away came 2nd half.
Conclusions
- Note PSG draws away v 4th and 8th. Will they be vulnerable to 2nd today?
- 1st v 2nd can often be a match where the teams cancel each other out.
- An interesting match where we have to favour PSG given their summer spending spree.
ITALIAN SERIA A
14:00 - AC Milan v Torino - 1.76 AC Milan
- 3-2 Milan and 2-2 in the last 2 head to heads.
AC Milan (7th)
- Only 2 wins in 8 matches.
- Not won in 3 at home.
- Only 1 0-0 did come at home.
- All defeats have come v top 6 teams.
- Wins at home v 13th so we are unsure about performance v mid table sides like Torino.
Torino (8th)
- Only 1 win in 8 matches so both teams in relatively poor recent winning form.
- Conceded in each of their last 10 matches.
- Failed to score in only 3 matches.
- Conceded in their last 10 matches.
- No 0-0.
- Not beaten a top 11 side home or away.
- All wins v 13th and lower, again like Milan.
Conclusions
- Lay any late 0-0.
- A number of similarities with these 2. Poor recent form. Wins tending to be v 13th and lower.
- Not a match in which I can be ultra confident in either team so if I play, it will be with the help of in-play stats.
14:00 - Genoa v Roma - 1.76 Roma
- Roma tend to win head to heads. 2 of the last 3 head to heads were 3-2.
Genoa (18th)
- Only 2 wins. Did win their last match.
- 5 defeats and a draw at home.
- Only 3 clean sheets.
- Not led at halftime at home.
- All home defeats v top 6 and play another top 6 team today.
- The reason Roma are not shorter odds is because Genoa scored 2 goals in 3 matches v top 5 teams (albeit losing).
Roma (4th)
- No draw saw only 2 losses.
- 9 wins in 10 matches.
- 100% wins away.
- Failed to score in only 1 match.
- Unbeaten at halftime away.
- All wins home and away v teams below them in the league.
- Scored first in 5/5 away.
- No opponent has led at halftime away.
- Not conceded an away goal 2nd half.
Conclusions
- Quite high odds for Roma considering they have the better form. I mean, 5 defeats at home for Genoa!
- On form, Roma should score first and negate any real trade. I would certainly lay Genoa if Genoa scored first.
- Form suggests an away win. Dare we lay any late draw and hope Roma continue to avoid draws?
14:00 - Udinese v Napoli - 1.4 Napoli
- Napoli have won the last 2 head to heads.
Udinese (14th)
- No draw this season. Only 4 wins.
- Loss, Win, loss, Win, Loss, Win, Loss at home.
- Failed to score in only 1 match, their last match.
- Only 1 0-0 at halftime came last match. So their last home match was a pattern buster.
- 2-4-2-2 scored at home before 0 last home match.
- Only 1 0-0 at halftime came at home.
- 6 defeats and a 4-0 win v Samp against top 11 sides home and away.those defeats saw both teams score.
Napoli (1st)
- All wins bar 2 0-0's.
- Those were the only 2 matches Napoli failed to score in.
- 3+ goals scored in all matches v 12th and lower.
Conclusions
- Playing to their optimum form, Napoli should score 3 goals today.
- Udinese suddenly put in a stinker last home match which makes it hard to read that. Prior to that match they had scored 2-4-2-2 goals at home, then ZERO.
- We should expect a Napoli win but remember Udinese were scoring solidly before last match.
- Udinese do tend to score and concede in defeat v top 11 sides.
17:00 - Lazio v Fiorentina - 1.71 Lazio
- 1-3 Lazio, 2-4 Fiorentina, 3-1 Lazio and 3-2 Fiorentina in the last 4 head to heads. Goals expected in a match which is usually very competitive.
Lazio (5th)
- 2 losses came v Roma and Napoli, 2 inform sides.
- 6 wins in 7 matches.
- Failed to score in only the first match of the season.
- Only 3 clean sheets though.
- All over 2.5 goals matches bar that 1st match of the season.
- Scored and conceded in 5 of their last 6 matches.
- Only 1 0-0 came at home.
- Only 1 0-0 at halftime at home.
- Only loss at home v 1st.
- 2 losses this season came v teams above them in the league.
- Strong home scoring either side of halftime.
- 5 of 6 goals conceded at home came 2nd half.
Fiorentina (9th)
- Failed to score in only 2 matches.
- Only 3 clean sheets.
- No 0-0 at halftime in 8 matches.
- Scored in their last 8 matches.
- No 0-0.
- Only 1 0-0 at halftime away.
- All losses v top 6 home and away.
- All away wins v bottom 2 in the league.
Conclusions
- I am not taken by Fiorentina's away form so will default to expecting Lazio not to lose.
- Fiorentina may score but not lose.
- Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market.
- Lazio do over 2.5 goals matches consistently so have that in mind if somehow this is 0-0 at halftime.
19:45 - Juventus v Crotone - 1.17 Juventus
- All wins to nil in head to heads for Juventus.
Juventus (3rd)
- 2 losses seem to have a Champions League distraction to them.
- All wins at home bar that loss to Lazio.
- Scored in every match.
- In 7 of their last 8 matches, Juve have scored 2 goals at least.
- No home draw.
- Only 1 0-0 at halftime at home.
- v 7th and lower, all wins bar a draw.
- Scored first in 6/7 at home and led at halftime in 5/7 at home.
Crotone (15th)
- Only 3 wins. 2 wins came in their last 3 matches.
- Only 3 clean sheets.
- Only 2 0-0's at halftime.
- Conceded in their last 6 away matches.
- Lost all matches at halftime away.
- Failed to score in the 4 matches v top 7 teams.
- 11 of 15 goals conceded away came 1st half.
Conclusions
- Juventus should lead at halftime and fulltime.
- Juventus should really score 2 goals at least.
SPANISH LA LIGA
11:00 - Deportivo v Athletic Bilbao - 2.7 Ath Bilbao
- Another market which suggests a tight match.
- 3 consecutive Athletic Bilbao wins in head to heads.
Deportivo (16th)
- Only 3 wins.
- Only 2 clean sheets.
- Failed to score in only 3 matches.
- 4 defeats and 2 wins at home.
- No draw at home.
- Conceded in all bar 1 at home.
- Opponents scored first in 5/6 at home.
Ath Bilbao (15th)
- Only 3 wins.
- Only 1 win in 9 matches.
- 4 defeats and a 3-3 in the last 5 away matches.
- No 0-0 away.
- All defeats bar 1 v top 9.
Conclusions
- As the market suggests this is a tough match to get an angle into.
- Ath Bilbao have very poor recent away form. Deportivo have only 3 wins.
- A match I will leave alone.
15:15 - Sociedad v Las Palmas - 1.45 Sociedad
- Sociedad have won the last 2 head to heads.
Sociedad (7th)
- Only 4 defeats.
- Failed to score only once.
- Only 2 clean sheets.
- Scored and conceded in 9 matches this season and in 6 of their last 7 matches.
- Scored and conceded in their last 5 home matches.
- No 0-0.
- No 0-0 at halftime at home.
- Only 2 losses at home v top 3 sides.
- All wins v bottom 5 sides.
- 100% over 1.5 goals.
Las Palmas (20th)
- All defeats bar 2 wins. No draw.
- Failed to score in 5 away matches.
- Only 1 clean sheet.
- Failed to score in 6 of their last 8 matches.
- 2+ goals conceded in each of their last 7 matches.
- All defeats home and away v top 13.
- 11 of 13 goals conceded away came 2nd half.
Conclusions
- Lay any late 0-0.
- Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market.
- Sociedad should be eyeing the win. Las Palmas have conceded 2 goals at least in all of their last 7 matches and Sociedad have a reputation for goals.
- We should expect 2+ goals today in total.
17:30 - Villarreal v Sevilla - 2.42 Villareal
- 2 consecutive 0-0's in head to heads.
Villareal (6th)
- Like a lot of Spanish sides, Villareal are in better form.only 1 loss in 10 matches.
- 4 wins and a draw in their last 5 matches.
- 6 0-0's at halftime but only one at fulltime.
- 4 consecutive home clean sheets.
- Unbeaten at home and unbeaten at halftime at home.
- 3 0-0's at halftime at home.
- Not met the top 9 at home.
- 10 of 12 goals scored at home came 2nd half.
Sevilla (5th)
- 4 losses this season came within the last 7 matches
- 4 consecutive away defeats.
- 1-1-1-0-0-0-1 goals scored away.
- Like Villareal, 6 0-0's at halftime but NONE at fulltime.
- 3 0-0's at halftime away.
- 3 of 4 losses away v top 4 teams.
Conclusions
- I would lay any late 0-0. The 0-0 head to heads cannot continue.
- If this is 0-0 at halftime, take a chance and expect a goal 2nd half.
- Strictly on form, Villareal are the form side. But then they have not met the top 9. This is the reason why the odds are 2.42 I suppose.
19:45 - Valencia v Barcelona - 1.86 Barcelona
- 1-2 Valencia, 2-3 Barcelona and 4-2 Barcelona.
- Valencia have actually led at some point in all of the last 4 head to heads.
Valencia (2nd)
- Unbeaten. All wins bar 3 draws.
- 8 consecutive wins.
- Failed to score in only one match.
- Scored 2+ goals in 8 consecutive matches.
- Only 2 0-0's at halftime, one came last match.
- 5 clean sheets in 6 at home.
- 2+ goals scored in their last 8 matches.
- Unbeaten at halftime.
- 2 draws out of 2 v top 4 sides. A sign that the best are tougher to beat?
- Scored first in 5/6 at home. Led at halftime in 5/6 at home.
Barcelona (1st)
- All wins bar a draw v Atl Madrid.
- Scored in all matches.
- 4 clean sheets away.
- Scored 2 goals at least in 11 matches this season.
- Only 1 0-0 at halftime away.
- 1-1 draw away v 3rd.
- 100% over 1.5 goals.
- 10 of 13 goals scored away came 2nd half.
Conclusions
- Do not be surprised if Valencia take the lead. They were in worse form last year and still led at some stage v Barcelona.
- It could be a to-and-fro match this one. One team leads, the other equalises and repeat.
- I would lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market and not be surprised if Valencia lead at halftime. Barcelona score heavily in the 2nd half.
- What chance a 3-2/2-3 correct score back pre match, from trading perspective? Or is this a typical 1st v 2nd where the teams will cancel each other out.
GERMAN BUNDESLIGA
14:30 - Hamburg v Hoffenheim - 2.5 Hoffenheim
- 1-3 Hoffenheim, 2-2 and 2-1 Hamburg in the last 3 head to heads.
Hamburg (15th)
- Only 3 wins.
- Only 1 win in 10 matches.
- Only 2 clean sheets.
- 8 defeats in their last 10 matches.
- Failed to score in 7 of their last 10 matches.
- Won their last home match.
- Only 1 0-0 at home.
- All home defeats v top 5 without scoring.
- Lost all matches v top 9 without scoring.
- 6 of 7 goals conceded away came 2nd half.
Hoffenheim (6th)
- Only 2 defeats.
- Only 1 win in 6 matches.
- Scored and conceded in 7 of their last 9 matches.
- Scored in every match.
- 2-3-2-1-3 goals scored away from home.
- No 0-0.
- Only 1 0-0 at halftime away.
- Scored and conceded in 4 of 5 matches.
Conclusions
- If Hoffenheim are behaving themselves today, I think they have a chance. Hamburg have only 2 clean sheets. They failed to score in 7 of their last 10 matches.
- Hoffenheim are highly like to score but have an uncomfortable habit of scoring and conceding. If conceding first, I think Hoffenheim could equalize. On form, Hoffenheim could score 2 goals today.
17:00 - FC Koln v Hertha Berlin - 2.7 Hertha
- 3 Hertha wins and a Koln win in the last 4 head to heads.
- This is another of those matches in which the market suggests a tough-to-call match.
FC Koln (18th)
- All defeats bar 2 0-0 draws.
- Those were the only 2 clean sheets.
- Failed to score in 3 of their last 4 matches.
Hertha Berlin (14th)
- Only 4 defeats.
- Scored and conceded in 8 of their last 10 matches.
- Not won an away match. 3 draws in 4 away matches.
- Only clean sheet came 1st match of the season.
- Unbeaten v teams below them with 1-1, 2-1 win at home, 1-1.
Conclusions
- Both sides have poor form. Hertha are conceding regularly, Koln have kept only 2 clean sheets.
- Slight hint that Hertha are favoured given their 2 1-1 draws and 2-1 win v teams below them in the league.
SCOTTISH PREMIER LEAGUE
12:30 - Kilmarnock v Aberdeen - 2.08 Aberdeen
- 1-2 Aberdeen and 1-1 in the last 2 head to heads.
Kilmarnock (10th)
- Not won at home.
- 0-2 and 0-3 losses v top 3.
- Only 2 losses in 9 matches so in reasonable form but still poor at home.
- Failed to score in their last 2 at home.
- Only 2 clean sheets.
- Conceded in their last 7 at home.
- No 0-0 at halftime at home, 5 0-1 defeats.
- Opponents have scored first in 6/7 at home and at halftime in 6/7.
Aberdeen (2nd)
- Only 2 defeats have come within the last 4 matches.
- Unbeaten away from home.
- Failed to score in only 3 matches.
- No defeat in 6 away.
- Unbeaten at halftime away.
- Scored and conceded in all matches v 9th and lower.
Conclusions
- I will say before this conclusion that Scottish Football has been very unreliable the last couple of weeks. So bear that in mind.
- Now, on form......Aberdeen may concede but not lose. I am surprised to see their odds not shorter today given Kilmarnock have not won at home and Aberdeen are unbeaten away from home.
DUTCH EREDIVISIE
11:30 - Ajax v Roda JC - 1.08 Ajax
- Ajax have scored 2 goals at least in all recent head to heads.
Ajax (3rd)
- Only 3 defeats.
- 5 wins in 6 matches. 4-4-4-3-1-8 goals scored recently.
- Scored in every match.
- No home draw.
- No 0-0 at halftime at home.
- All wins v 12th and lower.
- 100% over 2.5 goals at home.
- Scored 7 goals in the last half hour of home matches.
Roda
- Only 2 wins.
- Only 1 clean sheet.
- Failed to score in 3 of their last 4 matches.
- No 0-0 at halftime away.
- 2 goals at least conceded away v 8th and lower.
Conclusions
- It is worth researching obvious matches. We should expect 3 goals at least today so react if 0-0 for a while.
- Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market.
- Ajax are priced to score 4 goals at least yet again.
13:30 - Excelsior v PSV - 1.36 PSV
- 11 PSV wins in 12 head to heads.
Excelsior (10th)
- Only 2 clean sheets.
- 3 wins in their last 5 matches is an improvement.
- No 0-0.
- Only 1 0-0 at halftime.
- All defeats at home v top 12 teams.
- Not scored a 2nd goal at home.
- No 0-0.
- 6 of 9 goals conceded at home came 2nd half.
PSV (1st)
- All wins bar a loss.
- Failed to score in only one match.
- 2-0-2-3-0 conceded recently and PSV still won.
- 90th minute winner last away match.
- 8 consecutive wins.
- Only 1 0-0 at halftime away.
- 16 of 21 goals scored away came 2nd half.
Conclusions
- PSV should be winning here. All defeats v top 12 for Excelsior who admittedly have hit a bit of form but still top 10 is out of their reach.
- Lay any late 0-0
- Strong 2nd half scoring stats so fear not a 0-0 at halftime.
- Do note PSV did take til the 90th minute to conjure up a winner last weekend so keep fait!
- Even if Excelsior conjure up 2 goals, still that may not be enough.
13:30 - Sparta Rotterdam v Utrecht - 2.06 Utrecht
- Utrecht have won the last 2 head to heads.
Sparta Rotterdam (14th)
- Only 2 clean sheets.
- 3 draws in 4 matches.
- Only 1 0-0 at halftime at home.
- Not beaten a top 12 team home or away.
- 5 of 6 goals conceded at home came 1st half
Utrecht (6th)
- Scored and conceded in 6 of their last 7 matches.
- Failed to score only twice.
- Only 1 0-0 at halftime.
- Scored 2 goals at least in 4 of their last 5 matches.
- Conceded in their last 8 matches.
- Only 1 0-0 at halftime away.
- Losses away v 2nd, 13th and 16th.
- 100% over 1.5 goals away.
Conclusions
- This is not a gimme for Utrecht. They should score though as they have scored 2 goals regularly of late and Sparta tend to avoid clean sheets.
- Utrecht have bitty away form. Both teams could score and I would lay Sparta if Sparta scored first.
15:45 - Vitesse v ADO Den Haag - 1.68 Vitesse
- Draw, ADO, Vitesse last 3 head to heads tells us little.
Vitesse (7th)
- Only 3 defeats, 2 came within the last 3 matches.
- Failed to score only once.
- Only 3 clean sheets.
- Not won in 5 matches at home.
- Only 1 0-0.
- Only 1 loss outside of the top 3.
- 7 of 9 goals conceded away came 2nd half.
ADO Den Haag (10th)
- Only 2 losses in 9 matches.
- Only 3 clean sheets and failed to score in only 3 matches.
- 3 wins in 4 away matches.
- Only 1 win v top 11 teams home and away.
Conclusions
- Vitesse have slightly gone off the boil in recent matches but put into context they have only 1 loss outside of the top 3.
- With ADO winning only 1 match when meeting top 11 teams, I would expect Vitesse not to lose today. Vitesse have not won in 5 at home so that is why I chose those words.
