ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE

12:30 - Everton v Liverpool - 1.99 Liverpool

  • 1-1 and 2-1 Liverpool (FA Cup) last 2 head to heads.
  • In between 2 Champions League matches for Liverpool.
  • Only 4 losses all season for Liverpool and 3 of those came v the top 4 away.
  • Everton meanwhile are yet to beat the top 7 this season home and away (Liverpool are 3rd).
  • With Liverpool scoring and conceding in all bar 1 away v the top 14, it would not surprise to see both teams score. I would be keener to lay Everton if Everton scored first.
  • 1-1. 1-2 look the likeliest scorelines. Everton at home under Sam Allardyce have improved markedly but the key stat is that they have lost to the top 2.
  • Favour Liverpool on form. Team news check with upcoming Champions League match?

15:00 - Stoke v Tottenham - 1.34 Tottenham

  • Stoke lost easily to Manchester United, far more easily than I had envisioned what with the new manager's emphasis on defence.
  • 4-4-4-5 goals scored by Tottenham in recent head to heads.

Stoke (19th)

  • Relegation six pointer for Stoke. So tight is it at the bottom of the league, that a Stoke win will have 15th in the league worrying.
  • 3 draws and 3 losses last 6 matches.
  • At home, under Paul Lambert, 2-0, 0-0, 1-1, 0-2 (Man City), 1-2 (Everton and Stoke red card).
  • It is that Man City scoreline we'd expect today.
  • 3 0-0's at halftime in their last 4 matches.

Tottenham (4th)

  • 5 consecutive wins.
  • 5 wins and 2 draws last 7 away matches.
  • 4-3 goals scored last 2 away matches. Stoke keeper will have a sore back picking the ball out of the net you fear.
  • 0-1 v 17th and 1-1 v 18th away are the only glimmer for Stoke.
  • 16 goals scored away in the last 1/2 hour of matches.

Conclusions

  • 3+ goals would not surprise from Tottenham today. Concerns with their 0-1 and 1-1 v 17th and 18th v a Stoke side desperate for points. Stoke are improved but their 0-2 loss v Man City should be replicated here.
  • With Tottenham all the way here.

15:00 - Leicester v Newcastle - 2.04 Leicester

  • 2-3 Leicester in the last head to head.

Leicester (8th)

  • 2 draws and 2 wins the last 4 matches.
  • Unbeaten in 6 at home, with 3 consecutive 1-1 draws.
  • Failed to score in only 5 matches.
  • No 0-0 at home.
  • Only 2 0-0's at halftime at home (13%).
  • Only 1 loss at home v 7th and lower.
  • Only 1 loss home and away v 12th and lower.

Newcastle (12th)

  • Only 3 losses in 13 matches came twice against Manchester City and Liverpool.
  • Loss, Draw, Draw, Loss away last 4 matches.
  • 2 consecutive wins.
  • No 0-0 away.
  • 5 0-0's at halftime away (33%).
  • 100% defeats v top 7 away.
  • 16 of 25 goals conceded away came 2nd half.

Conclusions

  • Newcastle are in great recent form, only going down to Manchester City (twice) and Liverpool, recently. Solid stuff but in context, Newcastle have lost all matches v top 7 and play 8th today.
  • Newcastle are relatively safe from relegation but of course it is not a signed deal yet.
  • Probability wise, Leicester are highly unlikely to lose to a team 7th and lower at home - based on season long form.

15:00 - Brighton v Huddersfield - 1.89 Brighton

  • 2-0 Huddersfield in the last head to head.

Brighton (13th)

  • 2 consecutive 2-0 defeats v Everton and Leicester. That ended a run of 3 wins and 2 draws, the 3 wins coming at home.
  • 7 0-0's at halftime at home (44%).
  • Unbeaten at home v 9th and lower.
  • 14 of 21 goals scored at home came 2nd half.

Huddersfield (16th)

  • Only 2 wins in 14 matches.
  • Failed to score in 9 of their last 12 matches. The last 2 matches they scored in, they won.
  • Conceded in their last 13 away.
  • 9 0-0's at halftime away (56% of matches).
  • 7 defeats and a 0-0 away v top 10 (failed to score in all).
  • 25 of 31 goals conceded away came 2nd half.

Conclusions

  • Huddersfield have a 3 points buffer to the bottom 3. That is inadequate protection against relegation with so much to play for.
  • If Huddersfield cannot even score against the top 10 and that includes 12th, 14th, and 15th, they are not going to win / Simple.
  • If Huddersfield score, they have a squeak.
  • Note the strong concession rate for Huddersfield 2nd half. If they have not conceded by halftime they are highly likely to concede 2nd half away.

15:00 - West Brom v Swansea - 2.52 West Brom

  • Managerless West Brom take on a Swansea whose new manager has given them a lifeline to Premier League survival.
  • No head to heads given West Brom have sacked Alan Partridgedew as manager.
  • Swansea have a 3 point cushion to the relegation zone.
  • West Brom are 10 points shy of 4th bottom with only 6 matches remaining.
  • Swansea's new manager has them purring at home but away, they have shown Win, Draw, Draw, Loss, Draw Loss.
  • 9 consecutive defeats for West Brom, 4 at home, scoring and conceding in their last 4 home matches.
  • An imponderable really given the lack of manager for West Brom.

17:30 - Man City v Man Utd - 2 Man City

  • This is a Manchester Derby and I will not research it as it is best on the day.

ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP

15:00 - Birmingham v Burton - 1.77 Birmingham

  • Burton won the 2 2017 league head to heads.

Birmingham (21st)

  • 3 consecutive wins.
  • Clinging on to life outside of the bottom 3.
  • After 3 consecutive home defeats, 2 consecutive home wins.
  • No draw in 13 at home and in 12 overall.
  • 7 0-0's at halftime at home (35% of matches).
  • Failed to score at home v 19th, 20th and 22nd. Beat 23rd.

Burton (24th)

  • Bottom but just 3+ wins required to challenge for survival.
  • 3 consecutive away defeats but did meet the top 2.
  • 8 0-0's at halftime away.
  • All wins away v 19th and lower.Did beat Birmingham earlier this season.

Conclusions

  • Lay any late draw and hope Birmingham continue to avoid draws?
  • Quite a high % of 0-0's at halftime but I would not expect a fulltime 0-0.
  • Burton actually excel v teams 19th and lower. All wins. Can they buck the trend today? You may want to lay Birmingham if they lead (odds on favourites leading will be low odds, hence low liability) and hope Burton find another team 19th and lower beatable.

SPANISH LA LIGA

15:15 - Celta Vigo v Sevilla - 2.26 Celta Vigo

  • 2 consecutive Sevilla 2-1 wins in head to heads.
  • Sevilla face Bayern Munich in the Champions League after this match and are still in with a chance there.

Celta Vigo (9th)

  • Unbeaten in 6 at home.
  • Only 1 0-0 at home.
  • Home losses (0-1) have come v the top 5.
  • 3-3-2-1-3-2 goals scored at home v 6th-13th.

Sevilla (7th)

  • 2 goals conceded in each of their last 3 matches.
  • No draw in 15 away.
  • Muddling away form. All defeats bar wins v 5th, 8th, 11th, 13th, 18th and 20th.

Conclusions

  • It's 1-2 to Bayern Munich. 2 away goals yes but Sevilla are bang in there. Is this distraction enough for Celta Vigo to take advantage?
  • I like Celta's scoring v mid table sides at home.2+ goals consistently. Manage that today and it will be enough.
  • Lay any late draw and hope Sevilla continue to avoid the draw.
  • I don't like Sevilla's form. It is muddling. They win and lose against teams throughout the league, in all positions. They may well falter but then may conjure the win.
  • I think Celta will eye a positive here and I would take a chance and lay any Sevilla lead.

17:30 - Betis v Eibar - 2.24 Betis

  • Betis and Eibar wins last 2 head to heads.

Betis (6th)

  • Only 1 loss in 6 matches.
  • 3 consecutive wins.
  • Only 1 0-0 at home.
  • Only 3 0-0's at halftime at home.
  • Only 1 loss at home v 5th and lower.
  • 2+ goals scored in 9 of 11 of those matches.
  • 19 of 28 goals scored at home came 2nd half.

Eibar (10th)

  • Only 1 win in 7 matches.
  • Only 1 0-0 away.
  • 6 0-0's at halftime away (43% of matches).
  • 5 losses away v top 9 saw Eibar fail to score in 4 of those.
  • Did beat Betis 5-0 at home though. Indeed wins at home v 4th-8th inclusive.
  • 9 of 11 goals scored away came 2nd half.

Conclusions

  • Eibar light up at home v top 8 with 5 impressive wins outside of the obvious top 3. Away they cannot even score. Does this away Eibar turn up today?
  • Does the Betis scoring 2 goals v 5th and lower turn up? If so, lay Eibar if Eibar score first.
  • I would take on any 2nd half 0-0.

19:45 - Barcelona v Leganes - 1.14 Barcelona

  • 0-3 Barcelona last head to head, a scoreline fitting in with a 1.14 quote.

Barcelona (1st)

  • Failed to score only once.
  • The BEST DRT side this season by far. Find themselves in trouble? They have tended to wriggle out of it.
  • 2 goals scored in last 3 matches.
  • Only 2 0-0's at halftime at home.

Leganes (14th)

  • Safe from relegation.
  • 3 consecutive away wins.
  • Lost 1-3 to Real Madrid recently.
  • Failed to score in 7 of their last 10 matches.
  • No win in 11 away.
  • 6 0-0's at halftime away (40%).

Conclusions

  • Sandwiched between Champions League matches for Barcelona.
  • Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market. Against Real Madrid, leganes saw 3 goals before halftime.
  • Barcelona have been superb for DRT so put them on your priority list if a potential shock emerges.

ITALIAN SERIA A

14:00 - Benevento v Juventus - 1.23 Juventus

  • Benevento meet Juventus mid Champions League. Benevento's most eyecatching home result was a famous 2-2 v Milan where their keeper scored a last minute equaliser. EPIC!!
  • All losses for Benevento v the top 5 home and away suggests they will not be adding to their home win last match.
  • Juventus tend towards 2-4 goals v the bottom 4, bar an anomolous away 0-0 v SPAL.
  • It should be a comfortable afternoon for Juventus. They will have Real Madrid's first leg 0-3 away goal demolition on their mind for sure. Do watch team news as Juve may field a weakened side thinking that will do against a team as poor as Benevento.

17:00 - Spal v Atalanta - 1.89 Atalanta

  • 1-1 in the last head to head.

Spal (17th)

  • 2 wins and 3 draws last 5 matches.
  • Not beaten a top 10 side home or away.

Atalanta (7th)

  • Only 2 losses in 9 matches.
  • Only 1 loss in 9 away came v Juventus.
  • Failed to score only 4 times.
  • Unbeaten home and away v 16th and lower.
  • 13 of 18 goals conceded away came 2nd half.

Conclusions

  • Strictly on form, the home team cannot beat a top 10 side and the away side are unbeaten v 16th and lower and have only recently been beaten by top of the league away from home.
  • Be with Atalanta here. I will not discount a score draw but feel Atalanta should not lose.

17:00 - Roma v Fiorentina - 1.77 Roma

  • 4-0 and 2-4 Roma last 2 head to heads.

Roma (3rd)

  • 6 losses only all season.
  • 3 losses and 2 wins last 5 at home.
  • Failed to score only 5 matches.
  • No draw in 5 at home.
  • No 0-0 at home.
  • 5 0-0's at halftime at home (33%).
  • 5 losses and a win at home v top 9.
  • Only win was v Lazio in the local derby.
  • 11 of 15 goals conceded away came 2nd half.

Fiorentina(8th)

  • 5 consecutive wins.
  • 4 clean sheets in the last 5 matches.
  • Failed to score in their last 5 matches.
  • 4 0-0's at halftime away.
  • Not beaten the top 9 home or away.

Conclusions

  • I'll stop it there. We have a home team losing v top 9 v an away team (8th) failing to beat any top 9. We can make an argument against each side so better left alone.

19:45 - Sampdoria v Genoa - 2.78 Sampdoria

  • Worth researching as this is Seria A, but the market suggests it's a tough nut to crack.
  • 0-1 Sampdoria, 0-2 Sampdoria last 2 head to heads.

Sampdoria (7th)

  • 3 losses in 4 matches.
  • No 0-0 at home.
  • 6 0-0's at halftime at home (40%).
  • v 6th and lower at home, Samp have lost only once - they did not concede a 2nd goal either.
  • 65% of goals scored at home came 2nd half.

Genoa (12th)

  • Only 1 win in 5 matches.
  • 2 consecutive away defeats without scoring.
  • 11 0-0's at halftime in 14 matches.Only 1 0-0 fulltime.
  • 10 0-0's at halftime away.
  • Beat Lazio 1-2 away (5th) but that was the only time Genoa scored in 9 matches away v top 13.

Conclusions

  • Genoa are adept at 0-0's v 6th-10th away so that is in play. You may want to back 0-0 pre match and hope it is Genoa's defence which clicks.
  • Sampdoria must be confident of getting a positive result as long as Genoa does not strangle the life out of them. Only 1 loss at home v 6th and lower is solid consistent form for Samp, despite 3 losses in 4 matches in recent form.

GERMAN BUNDESLIGA

14:30 - Augsburg v Bayern Munich - 1.55 Bayern

  • We tend to see easy wins for Bayern in head to heads. Caution in the market I suppose because Bayern are playing Sevilla in the Champions League 2nd leg.

Augsburg (10th)

  • Only 2 wins in 10 matches.
  • 3 consecutive home defeats scoring 0-0-1.
  • No 0-0 at home.
  • Only 2 0-0's at halftime at home.
  • Conceded 3 goals away v top 3.

Bayern Munich (1st)

  • 17 points ahead, 18 to play for. A win seals the title (I may have to check the maths with the lovely Rachel Riley from Countdown).
  • Lost their last away match.
  • 5 wins in 6 away.
  • No draw in 10 away.
  • Scored in their last 12 away.
  • 3 0-0's at halftime away (21%).
  • Losses away v 4th, 7th and 9th so Bayern have been vulnerable.
  • Are actually unbeaten v 10th and lower.

Conclusions

  • Will Bayern be distracted? In any case Augsburg are off the boil scoring only 0-0-1 in recent home matches.
  • Normally lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market with Bayern. Team news required though. Will some key players be sacrificed today?
  • Lay any late draw. Bayern should win and could eye 3 goals if they are not distracted by the Champions League.

14:30 - FC Koln v Mainz - 2.1 FC Koln

  • 0-0, 2-0 Koln and 1-0 Mainz.

FC Koln (17th)

  • Only 2 wins in 9 matches.
  • Only 1 win in 5 came last home match.
  • Only 5 clean sheets.
  • No 0-0 at halftime in 11 matches.
  • Scored in their last 8 at home.
  • Only 1 0-0 at home.
  • Only 2 0-0's at halftime at home.

Mainz (16th)

  • Only 2 wins in 16 matches.
  • Failed to score last 4 matches.
  • 5  0-0's at halftime away.
  • Only 1 away win.
  • Unbeaten v 15th and lower home and away.

Conclusions

  • A relegation six pointer. Get used to seeing these!
  • No wonder these 2 are struggling. A couple of Arthur Daley sides. I couldn't trust them and make equally as strong an argument for opposing.

14:30 - Mgladbach v Hertha Berlin - 2.04 Mgladbach

  • 1-0 Mgladbach and 2-4 Mgladbach in the last 2 head to head.

Mgladbach (9th)

  • 3 draws in 4 matches.
  • Only 1 win in 9 was a 0-1.
  • Only 6 clean sheets.
  • 2 consecutive score draws at home 2-2 and 3-3.
  • Unbeaten at home v 7th and lower.
  • Scored 2+ goals in all home matches v 7th-13th inclusive.
  • 14 of 18 goals conceded at home came 2nd half.

Hertha Berlin (11th)

  • Failed to score in 5 of their last 6 matches. Did score 2 in a win last away match.
  • 3 0-0's in the last 5 matches.
  • 6 0-0's at halftime away (43%).
  • Wins away v 4th, 5th, 17th, 18th.
  • 1-1, 1-0, 1-1, 0-0, 1-1 v 7th-14th away.

Conclusions

  • Poor recent form Mgladbach but in context, they have scored 2+ goals in all homes v 7th-13th inclusive and did score 2 and 3 goals last 2 home.
  • Hertha Berlin v mid table tend to struggle scoring 2nd goal, so chance a lay of Hertha if Hertha score first.

17:30 - Hamburg v Schalke - 2 Schalke

  • 1-1 and 2-0 Schalke the last 2 head to heads.

Hamburg (18th)

  • Only 4 wins.
  • No win in 15 and in 7 at home.
  • 5 0-0's at halftime at home.
  • Have lost all home matches v top 6.

Schalke (2nd)

  • 6 consecutive wins. 5 consecutive clean sheets. There were 3 1-0 scorelines there.
  • 4 wins in 5 away.
  • Scored in their last 22 matches.
  • Unbeaten home and away v 14th and lower.
  • 0-1 wins away v 14th, 15th, 16th.
  • 15 of 20 goals scored away came 2nd half.

Conclusions

  • Lay any 0-0 you see in the 2nd half. Schalke, if they score, tend to score 2nd half away. Schalke's wins v 14th and lower were 0-1 so it might be tight. Schalke have scored in 22 consecutive matches so keep the faith if 0-0 or 1-0 late on.
  • Hamburg should not win today, they have lost all home matches v the top 6.

FRENCH LIGUE 1

16:00 - Monaco v Nantes - 1.53 Monaco

  • 1-0 last head to head to Nantes  - a repeat not expected today by the market.

Monaco (2nd)

  • No defeat in 16 and in 9 at home.
  • Scored in their last 11 and last 16 at home.
  • Scored 2+ goals in each of their last 8 at home.
  • 5 consecutive home wins.
  • 1-1-2-4-2-1-2-2-4-2-2 goals total before halftime in recent matches.
  • No 0-0 at halftime at home.
  • Only home loss v 1st.

Nantes (8th)

  • Only 2 wins in 12 matches.
  • 3 consecutive away 1-1 draws.
  • Only 2 0-0's at halftime in 12 matches.
  • Scored in their last 10 away.
  • 6 0-0's at halftime away (38%).
  • Scored and conceded in 5/6 matches v top 9.

Conclusions

  • Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market based more on Monaco. I am not keen on Nantes' 38%.
  • Monaco, if scoring their 2 goals, should see a win here today against a Nantes side with only 2 wins in 12 matches. Nantes have had 3 consecutive 1-1 draws. Lay Nantes if Nantes score first.

19:00 - Bordeaux v Lille - 1.72 Bordeaux

  • 2-3 Bordeaux and 0-0 in the last 2 head to heads.

Bordeaux (12th)

  • Failed to score in 4 of their last 6 matches.
  • Failed to score last 3 at home, with 2 0-0's.
  • 6 0-0's at halftime at home (40%).
  • Beat 18th and 20th at home.
  • 11 of 18 goals scored at home came first half.
  • 14 of 18 goals conceded at home came 2nd half.

Lille (19th)

  • Only 2 wins in 15 matches.
  • 2-2-2-2-1-2-1 goals conceded recently.
  • Only 5 clean sheets.
  • Conceded in their last 11 matches.
  • Only 1 win away v top 13.

Conclusions

  • Bordeaux are not that hot form wise but they have wins v 18th and 20th and that may be the piece of form which suggests they will not lose today.
  • Remember though Bordeaux have failed to score in 3 consecutive home matches. That sequence should end v 19th, a team conceding 2 goals in 5 of their last 7 matches.

DUTCH EREDIVISIE

17:30 - Breda v Vitesse - 2.32 Vitesse

  • 0-1 and 4-1 Vitesse in the last 2 head to heads.

Breda (15th)

  • 2 wins and 2 losses last 4 matches.
  • Only 4 clean sheets.
  • No draw in 12 at home.
  • Conceded in their last 14 at home.
  • Only 1 home draw.
  • Beat 4th and 5th at home, the only 2 wins v top 9.
  • Conceded 14 goals last 15 mins of home matches.

Vitesse (7th)

  • Failed to score last 2 matches.
  • 2-2-2-5-0-3 goals conceded recently.
  • 1-2-2-3-1-1 scored away v 11th and lower.

Conclusions

  • I thought I would try the dutch eredivisie. This does look tricky.
  • Lay any late draw and hope Breda keep avoiding the draw.
  • Do expect both teams to score, simply because both teams are conceding.
  • Note Breda's late conceding if 0-0 or 1-0 late on.
