ENGLISH PREMIER LEAGUE

12:30 - Leicester v C Palace - 2.04 Leicester

  • 3-1 Leicester and 2-2 in the last 2 head to heads.

Leicester (8th)

  • 4 consecutive wins and put Southampton to the sword mid week.
  • Scored and conceded in 4 of their last 5 matches.
  • Only 4 clean sheets.
  • Failed to score in only 3 matches.
  • 3 wins in 4 at home.
  • No 0--0 at halftime in 9 matches.
  • Only 1 0-0 at halftime at home.
  • As I said mid week, all defeats have come v top 7.
  • Scored and conceded v 16th and lower.

Crystal Palace (18th)

  • Unbeaten in 6 matches under Woy. He has transformed their season.
  • Only 2 clean sheets came in their last 2 away matches, 0-0's.
  • Still not scored an away goal despite scoring 2 goals for fun at home.
  • 5 0-0's at halftime away.
  • All defeats v top 6 away.

Conclusions

  • It must be advantage Leicester who under new management have started scoring freely. They meet a Palace side who are ultra defensive away, ultra attacking at home.
  • I would lay any late 0-0. I cannot see a 3rd consecutive 0-0 away, particularly with Leicester's scoring.
  • Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market.

15:00 - Watford - Huddersfield - 1.81 Watford

Watford (9th)

  • 3 defeats in 4 matches 6 defeats in 9 matches (only 1 win).
  • Failed to score their usual 2 goals now in 3 consecutive matches.
  • Failed to score in 4 matches.
  • Only 1 0-0 at home.
  • Only 1 0-0 at halftime at home.
  • 2 of 3 home defeats came v the top 2.
  • 10 goals conceded at home first half.

Huddersfield (12th)

  • 8 defeats in 11 matches, the other 3 were wins.
  • 6 defeats and a draw last 7 away.
  • Failed to score in 7 away matches.
  • Conceded 2+ goals in 5 consecutive away matches.
  • 4 0-0's at halftime away.
  • 14 of 18 goals conceded away came 2nd half.

Conclusions

  • If you cannot score, you cannot win. Watford may get away with it today against a Huddersfield who cannot score away.
  • Huddersfield have conceded 2+ goals in 5 consecutive away matches and we know usually Watford like scoring 2 goals.
  • Watford have struggled at home v Brighton and Stoke. At their best, they'll get their 2 goals.

15:00 - Stoke v West Ham - 2.24 Watford

  • 0-0 last time these 2 met and only quick research given West Ham's new manager.
  • Stoke are 15th. Only 4 wins. 4 losses in 5 matches.
  • Only 2 clean sheets for Stoke.
  • Stoke conceded in their last 7 at home.
  • 2-1, 1-2, 2-1 at home v 11th and lower.
  • West Ham have passed 2 stern tests under Moyes v Arsenal and Chelsea, a 0-0 and a 1-0 win. They only lost 2-1 v Man City. This is a lowering of the sights for West Ham.
  • 4-0 and 2-1 losses for West Ham under Moyes away.
  • I think 0-0 is in-play here. Man City's 2nd goal away was an 83rd minute goal.  We might see a return of Stoke's 2-1/1-2?
  • A tough match to weigh up. West Ham have only lost to one of the big guns under Moyes and should be confident here. 1-2 if they win I feel as Stoke have failed to score only 4 times.

15:00 - Chelsea v Southampton - 1.4 Chelsea

  • 3 consecutive Chelsea wins in head to heads.

Chelsea (3rd)

  • Only 2 draws.
  • 7 wins in their last 9 matches.
  • 4 consecutive home wins.
  • Only 1 0-0 at home.
  • 4 0-0's at halftime.
  • All wins bar 2 v 8th and lower home and away. 100% record at home.

Southampton (11th)

  • Only 4 wins.
  • Scored and conceded in their last 5.
  • Scored and conceded in 4 of their last 5 away.
  • Conceded in their last 8 matches.
  • Not beaten a top 9 team with 6 defeats and a draw.

Conclusions

  • This is an opportunity for a Chelsea win. They tend to score 2+ goals v 8th and lower, have a 100% record and Saints themselves have a near 100% losing rate v top 9 clubs.
  • Saints are scoring and conceding of late and I would lay them if they scored first. I do see Saints as vulnerable to teams with a record for scoring 2+ goals (see their heavy defeat to Leicester recently)
  • 50% of Chelsea home matches have been 0-0 at halftime so note that.

15:00 - Brighton v Burnley - 2.68 Brighton

  • A match the market simply cannot unravel.

Brighton (13th)

  • No win in 6 matches.
  • 4 losses in 5 matches.
  • Failed to score in 4 of their last 5 matches.
  • 4 draws and a loss last 5 at home.
  • 4 0-0's at halftime at home.
  • Not beaten a top 14 team.
  • Only losses at home v 1st and 5th.
  • 7 of 9 goals scored at home came 2nd half.

Burnley

  • 6 wins in 8 matches. Only losses were 1-0.
  • No 0-0 away.
  • Losses away v 1st and 8th.
  • Only 1 loss home and away v 9th and lower - 6 1-0 wins amongst those matches.

Conclusions

  • I am not sure about the market but Burnley, on recent form, are favoured. They do need to live a charmed life, what with the number of 1-0 wins they they. Brighton have had 4 draws and a loss last 5 at home so best case for them could be a score draw.
  • Burnley could be tough to score against as per usual.
  • No other strong angles. Do note 2.68 the favourite suggests that the market thinks this could go either way and generally there is a good reason for these quotes despite my favouring the away side with 6 wins in 8 matches.

15:00 - Arsenal v Newcastle - 1.28 Arsenal

  • No recent head to heads but the last time these 2 met it was 2 1-0 Arsenal wins.

Arsenal (7th)

  • No win in 3 sees a loss and 2 draws.
  • 7 consecutive home wins ended v Man Utd.
  • Only failed to score one in 13 matches.
  • No 0-0 at halftime at home.
  • v 12th and lower, 5 wins, scoring 2+ goals and conceding only once.
  • 5 of 7 home goals conceded first half.

Newcastle (16th)

  • 7 losses and a draw last 8 matches.
  • Conceded 2+ goals in 5 of their last 6 matches.
  • Only 3 clean sheets.
  • 3-2-1-3-2-1. A bit Ted Rogers and Dusty Bin total goals before halftime in recent matches.
  • No 0-0.
  • 4-3 goals conceded away v 2nd and 3rd.
  • All wins v 15th and lower.
  • The majority of goals conceded 30th+ minute away. Suggests they keep it tight but not for long.

Conclusions

  • Newcastle's season may hinge on their perfomances v teams 15th and lower where they are tending to pick up their wins. They do not seem to have the class to cope with the established top 5.
  • Particularly an Arsenal transformed at home, and pants away.
  • Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market based on recent Newcastle matches.
  • Newcastle are conceding 2+ goals and Arsenal at home know have to score 2+ goals.
  • It suggests an Arsenal win. Watch out in case Newcastle keep it tight to the half hour mark. They do tend to start conceding the vast majority of away goals after that point.

17:30 - Man City v Tottenham - 1.57 Man City

  • Tottenham are unbeaten in the last 4 league head to heads.

Man City (1st)

  • All wins bar a 1-1 v Everton.
  • 4 consecutive 2-1 wins ended with an emphatic win v Swansea.
  • Both teams have scored in 4 of the last 5 matches.
  • Scored 2+ goals in each of their last 10 matches.
  • Have been 0-1 down at halftime twice at home.
  • Not played top 4 at home yet.
  • 20 of 28 goals scored at home came 2nd half.
  • Tend to score first at home and have led in 5/8 at home.

Tottenham (4th)

  • 2 consecutive wins ended a run of only 1 win in 6 matches.
  • Failed to score in only 3 matches.
  • 0-0-1-1 scored in the last 4 aways.
  • No 0-0 away.
  • Lost to 2nd and 3rd this season and lost away to 2nd, 7th and 8th.

Conclusions

  • A step into the unknown for Man City who play  a top 4 side at home for the first time.
  • Tottenham though are showing cracks away and v the top 3 where they are 2 from 2 in defeat.
  • Losses away v top 8 sides and a problem with recent away goals  0-0-1-1 scored recently, suggests Man City, if retaining their 2 goal habit, will win.
  • Man City are prolific 2nd half goalscorers so no worries if 0-0 or if they are losing at halftime.

GERMAN BUNDESLIGA

14:30 - FC Koln v Wolfsburg - 2.18 Wolfsburg

  • 1-1, 0-0, 1-0 Koln last 3 head to heads.
  • WARNING - new manager syndrome for Koln has seen much improved performances albeit without that win.

FC Koln (18th)

  • No win.
  • Only 2 matches under new manager Stefan Ruthenback.
  • 3-4 loss v Freiburg saw Koln lead 3-0. 89th and 90th minute Freiburg penalties ruined the first win.
  • 1-0 v Bayern was an extremely good defensive performance from Koln as they were battered by Bayern.
  • Things are looking up. Remember mid week new manager syndrome saw improved performance from the likes of West Brom and Everton.

Wolfsburg

  • Both teams have scored in 11 matches and Wolfsburg continued that with the last match.
  • 0-0 last away match.
  • Only 3 wins because of so many score draws.
  • Only 1 0-0 at halftime away.
  • Failed to score away v 14th and 16th.

Conclusions

  • This may be a tough match to get a handle on - new manager syndrome. Much improved in 2 matches FC Koln and Wolfsburg have failed to score away v 14th and 16th.
  • A hint FC Koln are near to a draw or a win.

14:30 - Stuttgart v Bayern Munich - 1.33 Bayern Munich

  • 15 consecutive Bayern wins in head to heads.

Stuttgart (14th)

  • 3 consecutive losses.
  • Failed to score in those losses.
  • 5 wins and a draw at home ended with a 0-2 loss to Leverkusen last home match.
  • Conceded in their last 6 matches.
  • Only 1 0-0 at home.
  • Only home loss v 4th - that was the only home match where they conceded 2 goals.
  • Scored first in 5/7 at home.

Bayern (1st)

  • 8 wins in 9 matches.
  • 2 consecutive 1-0 wins.
  • Failed to score only once.
  • No draw in 9 matches.
  • Unbeaten v 9th and lower home and away.
  • 36 goals scored in total, only 13 away.
  • Scored first in 6/8 away.

Conclusions

  • Only 1/3rd of Bayern goals are scored away from home so they give opponents a chance. They are unbeaten though v 9th and lower.
  • Stuttgart are another side with a tight home defence. They only conceded 2 goals at home in defeat v 4th. What chance another Bayern 0-1 win?
  • It could be a tight old afternoon for Bayern v this defensive home side. Bayern do tend to sneak a goal before halftime so get involved if 0-0 at 25th minute.

14:30 - Eintracht Frankfurt v Schalke - 2.62 Frankfurt

  • The market is immediately off putting but what will the form tell us?
  • 0-0, and 2 1-0 Frankfurt wins in head to heads.

Frankfurt (7th)

  • 5 defeats this season, 4 came at home. 2 consecutive home defeats.
  • Only 2 0-0's at halftime.
  • Conceded in their last 11 matches and last 7 at home.
  • 0-1 v 1st and 4th at home. Not beaten top 12 at home - all one-goal-in-it matches.
  • 5 of 7 goals scored at home came 2nd half.

Schalke (2nd)

  • Unbeaten in 10 matches.
  • Scored and conceded in 4 matches, 3 were score draws.
  • Failed to score in only 3 matches.
  • Only 1 0-0 at halftime in 8 matches.
  • Scored in their last 10 matches.
  • No 0-0.
  • Not led at halftime away.
  • Away wins have come v 11th and lower.score draws away v 6th and 8th.
  • 9 of 10 goals scored away came 2nd half.
  • 7 of 9 goals conceded away came 1st half.

Conclusions

  • If Frankfurt are to lose v top 12 (who they are yet to beat at home) it tends to be one goal in it, so 0-1 or 1-2 , that kind of scoreline.
  • They are highly likely to concede. Schalke are in rare goalscoring form. Watch out if Schalke score first first half. They may not hold onto that lead. They concede most goals 2nd half.

14:30 - Augsburg v Freiburg - 1.73 Augsburg

  • 2-1 Freiburg and 1-1 in the last 2 head to heads.

Augsburg (9th)

  • Scored and conceded in 8 of their last 10 matches.
  • Only 4 clean sheets.
  • Failed to score in only 3 matches.
  • Scored and conceded in their last 5 at home.
  • Scored and conceded in all bar 2 at home.

Freiburg (13th)

  • 4 wins in 4 matches.
  • Only 1 away win was a controversial 3-4 v Koln where Freiburg were awarded 89th and 90th minute penalties.
  • Conceded 2+ goals in each of their last 4 away.
  • Only 1 0-0 at halftime away.
  • Comprehensive away defeats v top 14 conceding 3+ goals.

Conclusions

  • Take that last Freiburg away win with a huge pinch of salt. Wholly undeserved and the ref obviously backed the 3-4 scoreline in-play.
  • Augsburg tend to concede and their home scorelines v bottom half tend to be around the 2-1, 1-1, 1-2 markers.
  • Freiburg are conceding 3+ goals v top 14 teams. Does Augbsurg have that kind of firepower? Yes they do away v 15th and 17th and at home v 18th.
  • I would favour Augsburg to get 2 goals at least today and that should be enough. If Freiburg score first, lay them.

14:30 - Werder Bremen v Mainz - 1.94 Werder Bremen

  • 1-2 Mainz and 0-2 Werder in recent head to heads.
  •  This Werder may still be unreliable although as you see their season has started looking better.

Werder Bremen (17th)

  • 3 wins in 5 matches, the only wins this season.
  • 2 consecutive home wins to nil. It does suggest a new manager? Yes and I am right. Florian Kohfeldt has been in charge for 6 matches, 3 away losses, 3 wins, 2 at home.
  • And that ends the research as form previous to Kolhfeldt is irrelevant.

Mainz (15th)

  • 3 losses and a 2-2 in 4 matches.
  • Only 4 wins.
  • Only 2 clean sheets.
  • Conceded in their last 7 away.
  • No 0-0.
  • Beaten 16th and 18th at home but yet to play bottom 3 away.

Conclusions

  • New manager syndrome rules again. Surely no coincidence Werder are vastly improved under new manager. They should be eyeing a positive result against a Mainz with only 2 clean sheets.
  • There is an element of the unknown. Mainz are yet to play the bottom 3 away but beat 2 of the 3 at home. Werder though are on a 2 clean sheet, 2 match winning run at home under new management.
  • I would tentatively side with new manager syndrome Werder today.

17:30 - Dortmund v Hoffenheim - 1.52 Dortmund

  • This is another match where 'new manager syndrome' leaves me reluctant to research. Dortmund sacked their last manager and suddenly in their last match were almost well behave.
  • Gone were the manic matches where their opponents scored 2 goals, as did Dortmund. Now 0-2 v Mainz may signal a new, calmer Dortmund.
  • They meet a Hoffenheim described by me recently as inconsistent and for the trader that is not a good word. We want readable teams.
  • This is a match which makes little appeal during Dortmund's transitional stage. Dortmund had not beaten top 7 home or away (Hoff are 5th) but is this the New Dortmund?

SPANISH LA LIGA

15:15 - Athletic Bilbao v Sociedad - 2.24 Ath Bilbao

  • 3-2 Athletic and 0-2 Athletic in the last 2 head to heads.

Athletic Bilbao (14th)

  • 3 draws and a win last 4 matches.
  • Only 2 clean sheets in 12 matches.
  • 0-0 v Real Madrid last home match.
  • 1-1-0-1-0 goals scored at home recently.
  • 3 0-0's at halftime at home.
  • Not played any team 10th and lower at home.
  • Unbeaten at home v 4th-9th.

Sociedad (10th)

  • Only 2 wins in 12 matches.
  • Scored and conceded in 8 of their last 10 matches.
  • Scored and conceded last 3 away.
  • Only 2 clean sheets.
  • Failed to score in only 2 matches.
  • Only 1 0-0 at halftime.
  • Conceded in their last 7 matches.
  • 3 away losses v 3rd, 7th and 15th.
  • 2-2-1-2-3-2-0 conceded away.
  • All 6 away 2nd half goals scored last 15 mins of matches.

Conclusions

  • Sociedad have a chance of scoring here today with only 2 clean sheets for Bilbao last 12 matches.
  • With Bilbao unable to score that 2nd goal at home, they might let Sociedad in who have failed to score in only 2 matches.
  • Both teams look capable of scoring.
  • Not a match which is very readable given Bilbao are yet to meet any team 10th and lower at home.

ITALIAN SERIA A

14:00 - Inter v Udinese - 1.35 Inter

  • 5 consecutive Inter wins in head to heads.

Inter (1st)

  • Unbeaten.
  • All wins bar a 1-1 draw v Torino at home.
  • Failed to score in only 2 matches.
  • 3 clean sheets in 4 matches.
  • Scored in their last 8 at home.
  • Unbeaten at halftime at home.
  • Conceded all 5 goals 2nd half at home.
  • Icardi a key goalscorer at home. Make sure he plays.

Udinese

  • No draw.
  • 2 consecutive wins. 4 wins in 6 matches.
  • Failed to score in only 2 matches.
  • Only 1 0-0 at halftime.
  • Scored in their last 6 away.
  • No draw away and at halftime away.
  • All defeats v top 4. Lost their 3 aways v top 10, scoring too.
  • 7 of 10 goals conceded away came 1st half.

Conclusions

  • Udinese may score today but it is likely to be in defeat.
  • Inter Milan are winning. Udinese lost 3 away v top 10, and all defeats v the top 4 so really Inter should be eyeing the win.
  • Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market.

17:00 - Torino v Napoli - 1.69 Napoli

  • 2-2-5-5 goals scored by Napoli in the last 4 head to heads.

Torino (9th)

  • Only 3 losses.
  • 4 consecutive draws ended with a win last match.
  • Only 3 clean sheets.
  • Failed to score in 4 matches.
  • Scored and conceded in 5 of their last 6 matches.
  • Unbeaten at halftime at home.
  • 0-1 loss at home v 4th.
  • Scored and conceded in 5 of 7 at home.
  • 8 of 11 goals scored at home came 1st half.

Napoli (2nd)

  • Only 1 loss was v Juventus.
  • Failed to score in only 2 matches.
  • 7 wins and a 0-0 away.
  • 4 clean sheets out of 5 matches away v top 13 sides.

Conclusions

  • Napoli are likely to win on form and kept 4 clean sheets in 5 matches v top 13 teams away which impresses.
  • This flies in the face of Torino scoring and conceding in 5 of their last 7 matches at home.
  • Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market.
  • If Torino score first I would lay them.

19:45 - Roma v Cagliari - 1.29 Roma

  • 1-2 Roma, 2-2 and 1-0 Roma in the last 3 head to heads.

Roma (4th)

  • Only 2 defeats.
  • 2 draws in their last 3 matches came away.
  • Failed to score in only 2 matches.
  • 6 wins in 7 matches at home.
  • 4 consecutive home wins.
  • No draw in 8 at home.
  • Only 1 0-0 at halftime at home.
  • 2 losses at home came v top 2.
  • 10 of 14 goals scored at home came 1st half.
  • 6 of 7 goals conceded at home came 2nd half.
  • Tend to lead at halftime at home.

Cagliari (14th)

  • 2 consecutive score draws.
  • Scored and conceded in 6 of their last 7 matches.
  • Only 3 clean sheets.
  • Only 1 0-0 at halftime in 10 matches.
  • Only 1 0-0 at halftime away.
  • All defeats away v top 9 conceding 2 or 3 goals.

Conclusions

  • Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market.
  • It does look, on form, as if Roma will score 2/3 goals in a win this afternoon. Cagliari may yet score but in defeat.
  • Roma tend to lead at halftime at home so if 0-0 after 25 mins, you may get good odds to back Roma in the halftime market.

SCOTTISH PREMIER LEAGUE

12:30 - Aberdeen v Hibernian - 2.52 Aberdeen

  • Aberdeen have tended to win SPL head to heads.

Aberdeen (3rd)

  • Only 4 wins in 9 matches saw all losses came in those last 9 matches.
  • Failed to score in only 4 matches.
  • Only 3 0-0's at halftime.
  • 3 losses in 4 at home albeit v the big 2 Celtic and Rangers.
  • No 0-0 at home or at halftime at home.
  • 3 of 4 defeats have come v top 2 teams.
  • 0-1 win v Hibs last head to head earlier this season.

Hibernian (4th)

  • Only 4 defeats.
  • Unbeaten away.
  • Failed to score in only 1 match.
  • Failed to score in 3 of 4 away matches.
  • Scored in their last 9 away matches.
  • 2-2 away v 1st, 2-3 away v 2nd. Confidence v 3rd?

Conclusions

  • Aberdeen clearly only tend to lose to the big guns the top 2.
  • Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market.
  • WIll Hibs score 2 goals v 3rd as they have done v 1st and 2nd? If Aberdeen lead 2-0, lay them in the hope Hibs can score 2 goals again.

15:00 - Dundee v Partick - 2.28 Dundee

  • 4 consecutive Partick wins in head to heads.

Dundee (11th)

  • Only 4 wins.
  • Only 2 clean sheets.
  • Only 1 0-0 at home.
  • 7 of 10 goals scored at home came 2nd half.
  • 8 of 12 goals conceded at home came 2nd half.
  • Bit more sturdy at home of late 0-0, 2-1 win v Rangers, 0-1 loss to Aberdeen.

Partick (12th)

  • No away win.
  • Draws away v 9th and 10th.
  • Not scored a 2nd goal away.
  • No win in 8 away.

Conclusions

  • 2 strugglers this season. Partick did beat Dundee earlier this season.
  • Partick are yet to score a 2nd goal away so lay them if the score first?
  • Note the very strong 2nd half scoring and conceding pattern for Dundee so any 0-0 at halftime should be vulnerable second half.

15:00 - Rangers v St Johnstone - 1.35 Rangers

  • 3-2 Rangers, 1-2 Rangers and 0-3 Rangers in the last 3 head to heads.

Rangers (2nd)

  • The progress continues. 2nd now.
  • 4 consecutive wins, 3 were 2-1.
  • Failed to score in only 3 matches.
  • Only 1 0-0 at home.
  • 3 0-0's at halftime at home.
  • 7 of 10 goals conceded at home came 2nd half.
  • 3 of 4 defeats have come at home v 1st, 4th and 9th.
  • Only 1 home win v top 9.

St Johnstone (7th)

  • Only 3 wins in 14 matches.
  • 2 consecutive away wins.
  • Only 3 clean sheets.
  • No 0-0 away.
  • Majority of goals scored and conceded came 2nd half.
  • 3 away wins v 4th, 8th and 9th.
  • Lost 0-3 at home to Rangers earlier this season.

Conclusions

  • Good form for Rangers but they are conceding with the wins.
  • Do note only 1 home win v top 9 at home so you decide whether they are vulnerable today or whether the recent winning sequence will continue.
  • St Johnstone have 2 consecutive away wins too but were put in their place by Rangers at home.

FRENCH LIGUE 1

16:00 - Rennes v Paris St-G - 1.26 PSG

  • 4-0, 4-0, 0-1 in the last 3 head to heads.

Rennes (6th)

  • Only 1 loss in 8 matches.
  • 4 consecutive home wins, 2 were 1-0.
  • Only 4 clean sheets.
  • Failed to score in only 3 matches.
  • No 0-0.
  • 4 0-0's at halftime at home.
  • Only 1 win at home v top 9. 1-2, and 2 0-1 losses v top 9. Will Rennes keep it tight v top 9 teams?
  • 6 of 9 goals scored at home came 2nd half.
  • 6 of 7 goals conceded at home came 2nd half.

PSG (1st)

  • Only loss came away v Strasbourg, a victim of the Champions League team changes I feel. Cavani was not playing for a majority of that match.
  • Failed to score only once.
  • Scored and conceded in 4 of their last 5 matches.
  • Unbeaten at halftime away.
  • Draws v 4th and 7th away.

Conclusions

  • Rennes have hit some solid recent form but have lost 1-2 and 0-1, 0-1 v top 9 at home. They may yet give PSG a game today.
  • PSG on paper win easily. But with 4 consecutive home wins, 4 0-0's at halftime at home, Rennes might take a while to wear down. Indeed 6/7 goals conceded at home came 2nd half so watch out for a possible 0-0 at halftime then goals 2nd half.
  • PSG have failed to score only once so really should get on the scoresheet. They are conceding lately though so will require 2+ goals for the win.

19:00 - Strasbourg v Toulouse - 2.12 Strasbourg

  • No head to heads since 2008.

Strasbourg (12th)

  • Only 1 loss in 10 sees excellent form for this newly promoted side. That includes a 2-1 win over the mighty PSG.
  • 3-2-2-0-2 goals scored in recent home matches.
  • Only 3 clean sheets.
  • Only 1 0-0 at home.
  • 2 losses have come v 5th and 11th at home.
  • Only 2 home clean sheets.

Toulouse (16th)

  • 3 losses in 4 matches.
  • Only 1 away win v 19th.
  • Only 1 0-0 away.
  • Scored and conceded in 5/6 v teams 13th and higher away.

Conclusions

  • Both teams could score today and I would have to favour Strasbourg on recent form. They are scoring 2+ goals and have only 1 loss in 10.
  • Toulouse have only 1 away win so I would lay Toulouse if Toulouse scored first.

19:00 - Montpellier v Metz - 1.44 Montpellier

  • Metz have won the last 2 head to heads to nil....interesting!

Montpellier (7th)

  • 5 draws in 6 matches.
  • Only 1 loss in 12 matches albeit 7 draws.
  • Only 2 over 2.5 goals matches all season.
  • In 15 matches this season, Montpellier failed to score that 2nd goal in a match.
  • 6 0-0's at halftime at home.
  • Only played one of the bottom 8 at home, an emphatic 3-0 win.

Metz (20th)

  • Only 1 win.
  • Failed to score in 5 away. Never scored that second goal away.
  • Only 2 clean sheets.
  • Only win came away v 19th.

Conclusions

  • Head to heads point to Metz finding Montpellier good company. Season long form sees a Montpellier with only 1 loss in 12 playing a Metz with only 1 win.
  • This could be nervy for Montpellier today given they have not scored that 2nd goal in a match in 15 matches. That means their defence must be stout. In 10 matches this season Metz have conceded 2+ goals.
  • I would enter this match thinking 1.44 is too short for Montpellier. I would even cheekily lay Montpellier if they score first as the odds will be very short and they have had consistent trouble with that 2nd goal.

19:00 - Caen v Guingamp - 1.96 Caen

  • 1-1 and 0-1 Caen in the last 2 head to heads.

Caen (9th)

  • Only 2 wins in 9 matches were 1-0 wins.
  • Scored 2 goals only twice this season.
  • Only scored 2 goals once at home.
  • Only 3 over 2.5 goals matches.
  • No 0-0 at home.
  • 4 0-0's at halftime at home.
  • Losses v 2nd, 15th and 19th at home.
  • 5 wins at home came v 11th and lower.
  • 4 of those home wins were 1-0.

Guingamp (10th)

  • 2 consecutive wins.
  • 3 consecutive clean sheets.
  • Bar a 1-3 win v Metz first match of the day, Guingamp have not scored more than 1 goal in any other away match.
  • 6 consecutive away defeats ended with a 0-1 win v Troyes.
  • No 0-0 at halftime away.
  • All away defeats v top 14.

Conclusions

  • Neither side is scoring that 2nd goal in matches on a regular basis. I would be keener laying Guingamp if Guingamp scored first given they have all defeats away v top 14.

DUTCH EREDIVISIE

17:30 - Heerenveen v Breda - 1.6 Heerenveen

  • 0-0 and 0-1 Heerenveen in the last 2 head to heads.

Heerenveen (10th)

  • Scored and conceded last 4 without winning.
  • Only 3 clean sheets.
  • Conceded 2 goals in each of their last 5 at home.
  • Only 1 win in 10 after such a superb start to the season.
  • No 0-0 at halftime at home.
  • 4 home losses have come v the top 7.
  • Not played bottom 5 at home yet.
  • Only 1 loss home and away v 8th and lower.

NAC Breda (16th)

  • Only 3 wins.
  • Only 2 clean sheets.
  • Only 1 0-0 away.
  • 7 defeats, a draw and one win home and away v top 9 teams.
  • Scored and conceded in 4 away.

Conclusions

  • Even though Heerenveen are a patch of their former selves, NAC Breda are hardly sparkling v top 9 teams and on that basis should be opposed.
  • Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market.
  • Both teams are on a scoring and conceding small pattern. I would certainly be keener to lay NAC if they led first.

18:45 - PSV v ADO Den Haag - 1.17 PSV

  • PSV tend to win head to heads but it was 1-1 in the last head to head.

PSV (1st)

  • 3-0 loss and 3-3 in the last 2 matches.
  • Failed to score only twice.
  • 7 consecutive home wins.
  • Unbeaten at halftime at home.
  • No 0-0.
  • 12 of 18 goals scored at home came 2nd half.
  • Scored first in 6/7 at home.

ADO Den Haag (8th)

  • 2 consecutive wins.
  • Only 2 draws were score draws.
  • Only 3 clean sheets.
  • Conceded in each of their last 7 matches.
  • Seems clear cut away. Wins v 13th and lower; defeats v top 7, all 2-0.

Conclusions

  • It does look clear cut. ADO simply lose 2-0 v top 7 away. Expect a derivative of that scoreline today. PSV, despite a 3-0 loss and a 3-3 draw, are in good nick at home with a 100% record.
  • PSV tend to score first so we may not see any angles today but prepare if ADO surprise.

19:45 - Twente v Vitesse - 2.38 Vitesse

  • Both teams have scored in the last 6 matches.
  • Draw, Twente, Vitesse in the last 3 head to heads.

Twente (15th)

  • Only 4 wins, 3 came at home. Did win their last match, away.
  • Only 2 clean sheets.
  • 3 losses and a 3-3 at home last 4 matches.
  • Conceded 2+ goals in each of their last 4 home matches.
  • No 0-0.
  • No 0-0 at halftime at home.
  • 3-3 v 2nd and 4-0 win v 5th at home. Very Jekyll and Hyde at home. Losses v 8th, 10th, 12th and 13th at home.
  • 100% over 2.5 goals at home.
  • Scored first in 5/8 at home.

Vitesse (7th)

  • Only 2 wins in 9 matches.
  • 2 consecutive away losses.
  • Failed to score in only 2 matches.
  • No 0-0 away.
  • Only 1 0-0 at halftime away.
  • 3 wins and 2 score draws home and away v 12th and lower.
  • Only 1 loss v teams below them in the league.
  • 7 of 8 goals conceded away came 2nd half.

Conclusions

  • Twente are a headscratcher at home. 3-3 v Ajax and 4-0 win v 5th at home but then losing v 8th and lower.
  • Vitesse do look a bit more robust, unbeaten v 12th and lower and failing to score in only 2 matches. Further Vitesse have only lost to 1 team below them in the league.
  • I would lay Twente if Twente scored first in the hope it is an off day for Twente.
  • Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market.
