See you at 14:30 today here at live chat section and via Twitter @drtclub I will be following French Ligue 1 in-play as well as the English Championship in-play.

15:00 - West Brom v Brighton - 2.2 West Brom

West Brom (19th)

  • 8 games in charge for Pardew so I can only really use those for research.
  • West Brom remain bottom 3 even with a win today.
  • No win under Pardew. 4 draws and 4 defeats. 3 of those draws were 0-0 and that tells you his priority.
  • 0-0-0-1-1-0-1-1 goals scored by West Brom. They have scored in 4 of their last 5 matches which is a positive.
  • 3 draws and a loss at home under Pardew saw 2 0-0's, a 1-1 v Arsenal (v lucky late penalty) and a 1-2 loss v Man Utd.
  • Season long all 3 defeats came v top 3 at home.  Only 2 home wins suggest draw itis at home.

Brighton (12th)

  • Only Chelsea have beaten them in the last 5 matches.
  • 2 consecutive draws.
  • Failed to score in their last 5 aways.
  • 2 away wins v 15th and 20th.

  • 0-0 should be in-play here and I would back it pre-match at its highest point and hope the Pardew defense kicks in as does West Brom's problems scoring.
  • West Brom though have scored in 4 of their last 5 matches. Is this creeping in? Are they nearing that 1-0 win?
  • Brighton have failed to score last 5 aways but meet easier opposition today.
  • If 0-0 at halftime, I would cash out of the 0-0 back, and I would watch the match 2nd half and look for the 0-0 to end.

15:00 - Watford v Southampton - 2.5 Watford

  • 3-4 Southampton and 2-0 Watford in the last 2 head to heads.

Watford (10th)

  • Top 10 quite an achievement given the recent form.only 3 wins in 14 matches and 6 defeats in their last 7 matches.
  • Scored and conceded in their last 5 at home.
  • Lost at home to 18th and 20th, beat 15th. A little inconsistent and unreadable at home.
  • Beat Southampton 0-2 away. In fact, away from home Watford have beaten 3 teams and drawn the other 2-2 v 16th and lower.

Southampton (17th)

  • Only 2 wins in 17 matches. Yikes! Bring Back Le Tiss.
  • Only 2 clean sheets in those 17 matches.
  • Only 1 win v top 13 home and away.

  • Yet again the market is right. 2 sides in very poor form and hardly worth trusting.
  • With only 2 clean sheets in 17 matches, consider Southampton to concede at least a goal?
  • Were this away from home, I would be with Watford but at home, losses v 18th and 20th is worrisome.

15:00 - Newcastle v Swansea - 2 Newcastle

Newcastle (13th)

  • 13th may sound good but it is 2 points from the relegation zone.
  • Only 2 wins in 13 matches.
  • Failed to score in their last 3 at home.
  • 2 consecutive clean sheets.
  • No win in 6 at home.
  • Importantly I feel for this match, all Newcastle wins have come v teams below them in the league.

Swansea (20th)

  • Only 4 wins all season. Beat Watford last away match.
  • Conceded in their last 8 away.
  • New manager is 2 matches in and important to factor that. Win and Loss v Spurs in those 2 matches.
  • 3 of 4 wins have come v 10th away, 11th at home, 14th away.

  • New manager syndrome for Swansea may make this match tough to call. Swans cannot be readily written off. 2 86th+ minute goals saw them win away v Watford and they kept Tottenham to 1-0 for 89 minutes.
  • Newcastle have no win in 6 at home so will need to stop that rot. They have, importantly, collected all of their wins v teams below them in the league.
  • It is tough to dismiss new manager'ed Swans. Newcastle though are more likely to beat lower table sides so that must be factored in.
  • I would consider backing 0-0 pre match in the hope defenses are on top (2 recent Newcastle clean sheets and Swans recently good defensively).

15:00 - Huddersfield v West Ham - 2.74 Huddersfield

Huddersfield (11th)

  • Do not be fooled by the league position. Huddersfield are a couple of bad results away from a bottom 3 spot.
  • Only 2 losses in 7 matches came v Chelsea and Leicester.
  • 2 consecutive home score draws.
  • Unbeaten home v 7th and lower and did not concede a 2nd goal in those matches.
  • 7 of 10 goals scored at home came 1st half.

West Ham (15th)

  • 11 games into Moyes reign. 4 losses in that time. Importantly though only 1 loss in 7 matches was a 2-3 v Newcastle.
  • Scored and conceded in their last 4 matches.
  • A win and 2 draws away in their last 3.

  • We can only really judge West Ham on those 11 matches. I argued this point previously. West Ham tend to score just the single goal at best v the top clubs.
  • Under Moyes, they seem to score 2/3 goals v the lesser sides such as Stoke, Newcastle, Bournemouth, and West Brom. Huddersfield certainly fall into that latter category.
  • On that basis therefore I am with Moyes West Ham today and would lay any Huddersfield lead as I did successfully when West Brom and West Ham met recently.
  • Huddersfield are putting together a solid run it must be noted.  Huddersfield could be the first goal scorers as 70% of home goals were scored first half.

15:00 - C Palace v Burnley - 2.1 Palace

Palace (14th)

  • 18 games in and Woy has widden the wough seas and steadied the ship at Palace.
  • Only 1 loss in 11 matches was a 2-3 loss to Arsenal.
  • Only 4 clean sheets.
  • Only 6 losses under Woy and all v the top clubs bar the Newcastle loss.
  • The only time Palace failed to score 2 goals at home in 7 matches under Woy came in their last home match, a 0-0 spoiler v Man City.
  • If Palace are keeping Man City quiet, they must have a chance of keeping a blunt Burnley quiet?
  • No 0-0 at halftime at home.
  • Palace scored 2 goals in all bar that Man City match at home v the top 10.
  • Oh, and they have conceded in all bar that Man City match at home.
  • 13 of 18 goals conceded away came 1st half.
  • Conceded first in 8/11 at home.

Burnley (7th)

  • Only 6 defeats.
  • No win in 5 matches though.
  • Failed to score in 3 of the last 5 matches.
  • 3 consecutive away draws.
  • Only 2 away losses v 1st and 8th.
  • 8 of 11 goals scored away came 1st half.
  • 8 of 11 goals conceded away came 2nd half.

  • Attack v defence? Palace have only been stopped from scoring 2 goals at home by Man City under Woy.
  • Burnley tend to score in the first half away. Should Burnley score first today I would lay them.

15:00 - Chelsea v Leicester - 1.32 Chelsea

  • Chelsea have won the last 3 Premier League head to heads.

Chelsea (3rd)

  • Only 4 defeats.
  • Only 1 loss in 14 matches.
  • 7 consecutive home wins.
  • Failed to score in only 4 matches.
  • 5 0-0's at halftime at home.
  • Only 1 win at home v top 7 but 100% record at home v 9th and lower and play.......8th.

Leicester (8th)

  • Only 1 win in 5 matches.
  • 2 consecutive away 2-1 losses.
  • Scored and conceded in their last 7 away.
  • Unbeaten at halftime away.
  • 5 defeats and a 2-2 home and away v the top 4.
  • Conceded 2 goals at least in those matches.

  • Strictly on form, Leicester are conceding 2 goals at least v the top 4 in what tends to be defeats, even if Leicester score.
  • There are quite a few 0-0's at halftime and I would definitely take on the 0-0 2nd half.
  • Leicester look opposable today if scoring first.

17:30 - Tottenham v Everton - 1.29 Tottenham

Tottenham (5th)

  • 5 defeats this season, only one at home.
  • Only 1 loss in 8 matches was v Man City.
  • Failed to score in only 3 matches.
  • 6 wins in 8 home matches.
  • 5 0-0's at halftime at home.
  • A massive 12 goals scored in the half hour after halftime at home.

Everton (9th)

  • 2 consecutive defeats.
  • 0-0-1-0 goals scored recently.
  • 8 matches under Big Sam. 0-1-0-1-0-0 conceded under Big Sam but now 2-2 conceded last 2 matches.
  • Not beaten a team above them in the league yet.

  • Everton research curtailed as there are only 8 matches under the new manager.
  • Everton are conceding 2 goals for the first time under Big Sam and now meet a Tottenham side putting aside the Curse of Wembley.
  • We might see a rear guard action from Everton so a 0-0 at halftime would not surprise. Tottenham I expect will score 2nd half if not first. They have tended to this recently even in cup matches.
  • I would lay Everton if Everton scored first although I guess that 0-1 is what Big Sam is after. The fact is that Everton are yet to beat any side above them in the league.

- all teams are returning from a Winter Break so research is done on the assumption that they carry on where they left off form wise. This will not be the case of course as there has not been any competitive football for a while.

14:30 - Augsburg v Hamburg - 2.02 Augsburg

  • 4-0 Augsburg and 1-0 Hamburg in the last 2 head to heads.

Augsburg (9th)

  • Only 4 clean sheets.
  • Failed to score in only 3 matches.
  • Ended last year unbeaten in 4 at home, scoring and conceding in those.
  • Scored and conceded in their last 5 matches.
  • No home 0-0.
  • Only 2 home losses v 3rd and 11th.
  • Finnbogasun the outstanding goalscorer at home. If he does not play, Augsburg may suffer.

Hamburg (17th)

  • Only 4 wins.
  • 2 0-0's and 2 defeats in the last 4 matches.
  • No win in 7 away matches.
  • Only 1 0-0 away.
  • Only away win v 18th away.
  • Conceded 2/3 goals away v top 11 teams.
  • Opponents have scored first in 6/8 away matches.

  • On form, Hamburg are struggling away from home v top 11 teams. On form, they are liable to concede 2/3 goals.
  • Augsburg ended in good home form. I would lay Hamburg if Hamburg scored first.

14:30 - Eintracht Frankfurt v Freiburg - 1.92 Eintracht Frankfurt

  • 3 consecutive Freiburg wins and a draw last 4 head to heads.

Eintracht Frankfurt (8th)

  • Only 5 defeats.
  • Scored and conceded in 10/12 matches. 2 0-1 defeats in 3 matches at home.
  • Conceded in their last 12 matches and last 8 at home.
  • Only 1 0-0 at halftime at home.
  • Only home wins came v 14th and 16 were 2-1 wins.
  • Strangely away from home, Frankfurt are unbeaten v 6th and lower.

Freiburg (13th)

  • 3 wins and 2 draws in the last 5 matches.
  • Defensive coaches - look away now! 4-4-0-5-3-3-3-3 goals conceded in away matches.
  • Freiburg, contrary to Frankfurt, are good at home, dire away.

  • Do remember the Winter Break. Freiburg must surely have been working on their defense away. Strictly on form, they are lacking at the back away from home and must be opposed if scoring first.
  • Frankfurt have only 2 home wins though, v 14th and 16th.

14:30 - Hannover v Mainz - 2.3 Hannover

  • 2 Mainz wins and a Hannover win in the last 3 head to heads.

Hannover (11th)

  • Only 1 win in 7 matches.
  • Failed to score in only 2 matches.
  • Scored in their last 5 at home.
  • 4 0-0's at halftime at home.
  • Only 1 home loss was v 8th.

Mainz (15th)

  • Only 4 wins.
  • Scored and conceded in 5 of their last 6 aways.
  • 2 consecutive away 2-2's.
  • Only 2 clean sheets.
  • Conceded 2+ goals in each of their last 5 matches.
  • No away win.
  • 4 score draws away.
  • Opponents have scored first in 7/8 away.

  • Only 1 win in 7 for Hannover is not the kind of form which should take advantage of an away side who cannot win.
  • If Mainz continue to concede 2 goals (remember this is post Winter break and they may have worked to improve their defense) then they are layable if leading - Hannover scored in their last 5 at home prior to the Winter Break.

14:30 - Stuttgart v Hertha Berlin - 2.2 Stuttgart

  • The home side has remained unbeaten in the last 4 head to heads.

Stuttgart (14th)

  • 4 consecutive defeats without scoring, 3 of those defeats were 1-0.
  • Conceded in their last 7 matches.
  • Only 2 losses at home v top 4 teams.
  • Failed to score in 3 of 4 matches v top 10 teams. Beat Dortmund when Dortmund were struggling so I would dismiss this as false form.

Hertha Berlin (10th)

  • 2 consecutive wins.
  • Scored and conceded in 8 of their last 9 matches.
  • Only 2 clean sheets.
  • Failed to score in only 3 matches.
  • Scored and conceded in 4 of their last 5 away matches.
  • Score draws away v 7th-13th inclusive.

  • We have to assume it is 'as you were' after the Winter Break. If that is the case, Stuttgart should concede today. Stuttgart actually struggled to score v top 10 teams at home. They beat Dortmund but that was when my old Sunday League team, with my 78 year old Dad up front, could have beaten Dortmund.
  • Slight advantage Hertha Berlin for me today again with that caveat that the Winter Break has not affected the form.

14:30 - Werder Bremen v Hoffenheim - 2.6 Werder Bremen

  • 1-0 Hoff and 1-0 Werder in the last 2 head to heads.

Werder Bremen (16th)

  • 7 matches under new management. That saw the first 3 wins of the season so obvious new manager improvement.
  • 2 consecutive home wins and a 2-2 draw now under new management. Prior to this manager, I bet you Hoffenheim would have been warm favourites.
  • All 7 matches under the new manager sees at least a goal before halftime. The real Werder has returned!
  • 3 losses away under new management but obvious improvement at home.

Hoffenheim (7th)

  • 3 consecutive away defeats for Hoff conceding 2 goals at least in each.
  • Failed to score in only 2 matches and those came within the last 3 losses.
  • No 0-0.
  • Poor away form for the Hoff - only 2 wins away v 15th and 18th were 2-3 and 0-3.
  • Only 1 clean sheet away.

  • New manager syndrome for Werder Bremen has made the needed improvements. 2 wins and a draw in their 3 home matches. All wins this season for Werder came under their new manager.
  • I would lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market. 7 consecutive times that has come in under the new manager.
  • As we know with these 2, it could go mental so the in-play stats will be very interesting.

12:00 - Girona v Las Palmas - 1.8 Girona

Girona (13th)

  • 2 consecutive defeats came away.
  • Only 4 clean sheets.
  • Scored in their last 5 at home and last 12 overall.
  • Did lose 2-3 v Alaves at home (18th) and beat 19th at home.
  • No strong home form to work with but I note they scored 2 goals v 15th, 16th, 17th away and 18th at home.

Las Palmas (20th)

  • Only 3 wins.
  • No win in 7 away.
  • Conceded in each of their last 9 away matches.
  • Conceded 2+ goals in each of their last 6 away matches.
  • Only 1 away win v 19th.

  • There is a hint that Girona might have 2 goals in them today. In that hope, I would lay Las Palmas if Las Palmas scored first. Poor away form for Las Palmas may seal their fate.

15:15 - Real Madrid v Villarreal - 1.28 Real Madrid

  • 1-1 and 2-3 Real Madrid in the last 2 head to heads.

Real Madrid (4th)

  • Struggles this year. 0-3 loss to Barcelona and 2-2 v Celta last 2 matches.
  • Unbeaten at halftime this season.
  • Did beat 5th and 7th at home.
  • 13 of 19 goals scored at home came 1st half.

Villareal (6th)

  • 2 0-1 wins and a 1-1 last 3 matches. Tightened defence paying dividends.
  • That's 5 away matches scoring a maximum of 1 goal.
  • 1-1 v 2nd and 0-1 v 3rd away so decent form but then losses v 8th, 10th, 12th, 16th.
  • 10 of 14 goals conceded away came 2nd half.

  • Real Madrid are struggling to hold down a top 4 spot and play a Villareal side scoring in recent head to heads.
  • Real are unbeaten at halftime all season so a ready angle if Villareal score first first half. It worked v Celta Vigo if you recall.
  • Villareal form is very iffy. Solid v top 3 away but then losing v 8th and lower.

17:30 - Eibar v Atletico Madrid - 2.02 Atl Madrid

  • For me unexpectedly big odds for Atl Madrid. We shall see if there is any reason for the market's luke warm assessment of Madrid.
  • Madrid have scored 2 goals in each of the last 3 away meetings v Eibar. Yes, 2-2 last match but if this pattern continues, Atl Madrid look value.

Eibar (7th)

  • There is always a reason when odds look out of place. Indeed, Eibar are 7th which surprises me and they have won 6 of their last 7 matches.
  • Scored and conceded in 7 of their last 9 matches.
  • 2 draws and 4 consecutive home wins in the last 6 home matches. Good stuff.
  • Scored 2+ goals in each of their last 5 home matches.
  • Only played one of the top 8 at home and that was a 2-1 win v 3rd placed Valencia.
  • 7 of 10 goals conceded at home came 1st half.

Atl Madrid (2nd)

  • Only 1 loss came last match away v Espanyol. It was a smash and grab 88th minute 1-0 - a match really where the 0-0 saw the team who could score take the points.
  • 0-1-0-0-0-0-0-1 goals conceded away so Eibar may struggle to score their usual 2 goals today.
  • 5 0-0's at halftime away.
  • 4 draws and a win v top 6. Will that extend to 7th?

  • An interesting match. There is a gap in the form for Eibar v the top 8 so a question mark there.
  • BUT if Atl Madrid's defense is as solid as it has been season long, you would fear for Eibar today. They have been in ultra solid form recently, scoring 2 goals in a Palace-like style in their last 5 home matches.
  • I would personally have to be with Atl Madrid not to lose today. Their loss v Espanyol was a case of 87 minutes of 0-0 ending with an Espanyol breakthrough.
  • If 0-0 at halftime, I would keep the faith in a 2nd half goal.

19:45 - Deportivo v Valencia - 2.32 Valencia

  • 2 1-1 draws ended with a 3-0 win for Valencia.

Deportivo (17th)

  • Only 4 wins.
  • Only 3 clean sheets.
  • No 0-0 at home.
  • Failed to score in all defeats v the top 5.
  • Opponents have scored first in 7/9 home matches.

Valencia (3rd)

  • All 3 defeats this season came within the last 5 matches.
  • 2 consecutive away defeats now.
  • Failed to score in only 3 matches.
  • No away 0-0.
  • V 9th and lower, 10 wins and a draw.
  • 9 of 12 goals conceded away came 2nd half.

  • Valencia are wobbling now but against teams 9th and lower home and away, Valencia have an exemplary record. On that basis they should not lose today. Their odds are luke warm because of those 2 consecutive away defeats.
  • I cannot put my finger on why Valencia are wobbling. Top scorer absence? Injuries?
  • Remember Depor have only 4 wins so it is not a habit they can rely upon.
