The day ended yesterday with Barcelona huffing and puffing v Alaves yet coming out with a 2-1 win. I do hope you late players got involved. Barcelona have done this often - remember 2-0 down v Sociedad and winning 2-4 recently?
On to today and it is a quietish day. I normally take the day off as far as live chats are concerned. I am naturally drawn to the last 3 matches, Benfica, Basaksehir and St Johnstone. The St. Johnstone match has some question marks against St J's F.A.Cup form. I tend to look for teams 'up for the cup' and with 3 defeats in 4 matches, St. J may field a weakened side today and have a questionable attitude to the F.A.Cup. In-play stats will play a part here. I would recommend you Ctrl F 'lay the 0-0' to find matches where a goal is expected before halftime (Celta/Belenenses matches) and make your own shortlist.

SPANISH LA LIGA

20:00 - Celta Vigo v Betis - 1.84 Celta Vigo

  • Betis have won the last 2 head to heads.

Celta Vigo (8th)

  • 3 wins and a draw last 4 matches.
  • Failed to score in only 2 matches.
  • Only 4 clean sheets.
  • No 0-0.
  • No 0-0 at halftime at home.
  • 2 of 3 losses at home came v top 5.
  • 10 of 13 goals scored at home came 1st half.

Real Betis (13th)

  • 3 wins in 5 matches.
  • 2 consecutive away wins.
  • Only 4 clean sheets.
  • No 0-0.
  • Mixed up away form. Wins v 4th (Real Madrid), 6th and 20th.

Conclusions

  • Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market.
  • Should it be 0-0 at halftime, lay the 0-0 2nd half.
  • Good recent form both sides muddies the water so I will stick with the 2 neutral angles above.

FRENCH LIGUE 2

19:45 - Reims v Lorient - 2.12 Reims

  • 2-1 Lorient in the Ligue 2 head to head.

Reims (1st)

  • Top of the league.
  • 7 consecutive wins.
  • Only 3 losses this season. Note one of those was away at Lorient.
  • 3 consecutive clean sheets.
  • Failed to score in only 2 matches.
  • No 0-0 at home.
  • Only home loss v 7th.
  • All dropped points (draws and defeats) came v top 9 teams.

Lorient (6th)

  • Scored and conceded in their last 9 matches.
  • Scored and conceded in their last 6 away matches.
  • Conceded 2+ goals in each of their last 3 away matches.
  • 1-1 v 3rd away and 3-2 loss away v 5th. Score and not win today?

Conclusions

  • A rare visit to French Ligue 2 on a quiet day.
  • Both teams to score is a very strong Lorient pattern. Lay Lorient if Lorient score first? Reims have failed to score in only 2 matches.
  • Solid recent form Reims but noticeably all dropped points came v top 9 teams.
  • Lay any late 0-0.

DUTCH EERSTE DIVISIE

19:00 - Jong PSV v Eindhoven - 1.76 Jong PSV

  • Jong PSV have won each of the last 4 head to heads.

Jong PSV (7th)

  • Scored and conceded in their last 7 matches.
  • 3 3-2 wins in their last 4 matches.
  • Failed to score in only 4 matches.
  • Scored in their last 9 matches and last 8 at home.
  • No 0-0 at home.
  • No 0-0 at halftime at home.
  • Big form gap at home. Only 1 match played v teams 6th-16th inclusive.

FC Eindhoven (12th)

  • Scored and conceded in 10 of their last 12 matches.
  • Failed to score in only 3 matches.
  • 4-0-5-4 goals conceded last 4 away matches.
  • Not beaten a top 13 side away.
  • Only 1 win in 12 matches v top 10 teams.
  • Scored and conceded in all 10 matches home and away v top 8 teams.
  • 10 of 14 goals scored away came 2nd half.

Conclusions

  • There is a big gap in Jong's home form and that is the niggle here.
  • Both teams to score is a very strong pattern for both sides and note Jong PSV love a 3-2 win!
  • Can we back 2-2 today from a trading perspective?
  • FC Eindhoven have only 1 win in 12 matches v top 10 teams so strictly on form we are with the home side today, even of the away side scores first.

PORTUGEUSE PRIMEIRA LIGA

19:00 - Pacos Ferreira v Feirense - 1.99 Pacos

  • 3 consecutive Feirense wins in head to heads.

Pacos Ferreira (14th)

  • Only 1 win in 9 matches came last match.
  • 2 consecutive home draws.
  • Only 1 loss in 9 matches played home and away v 10th and lower.

Feirense (11th)

  • 3 wins in 5 matches.
  • No draw in 17 matches.
  • Only 1 loss v 14th and lower.

Conclusions

  • And there I halt it. I thought it would be worth researching the Portuguese Primeira Liga on a quiet day but this match offers little.
  • I can make an argument for either side.
  • Maybe lay the late draw as Feirense are avoiding draws at the moment.

19:00 - Belenenses v Benfica - 1.39 Benfica

  • 4-0 and 5-0, albeit at home, for Benfica last 2 head to heads.

Belenenses (12th)

  • 3 draws in 4 matches.
  • No win in 9 matches.
  • No 0-0 at home.
  • Not played the top 4 at home but lost all away matches v top 5 and one home match at home v top 5.
  • Failed to score in all aways v top 6.
  • Scored only 1-1-0-1-1 at home v top 9.

Benfica (3rd)

  • Only 1 loss.
  • 9 wins and 2 draws in the last 11 matches.
  • Failed to score only once.
  • No defeat in 13 matches.
  • Unbeaten at halftime away. 6 0-1 wins.
  • 100% wins v 10th and lower.
  • All wins bar a single loss v 7th and lower.
  • Conceded all 8 goals away 2nd half.

Conclusions

  • In the halftime market, probability suggests Benfica will score and lead. They concede all away goals 2nd half.
  • Benfica are in rude health. Belensenses away failed to score v top 6 and at home failed to score that 2nd goal.
  • It looks straightforward for Benfica.
  • Lay the 0-0 in the halftime score market or back Benfica in the halftime market.

TURKISH SUPER LIG

17:00 - Basaksehir v Karabukspor - 1.25 Basaksehir

  • 0-2, 3-3 Basaksehir and 3-1 Karabukspor last 3 head to heads.
  • Nice 14/1 payout yesterday in like chat with Akhisar equalising late on! More fun from the Turks today?

Basaksehir (2nd)

  • New kid on the block breaking the Galatasary/Fenerbahce stranglehold.
  • A win takes them top of the league today.
  • 4 wins in 5 matches.
  • Only 3 defeats all came away and 2 of those were 1-0 only. Karabukspor actually beat Basaksehir 2nd match of the season.
  • 5 consecutive home wins.
  • Unbeaten at home.
  • 100% home wins v 10th and lower.
  • Scored and conceded in wins v 12th, 13th, 16th and 17th.
  • No 0-0.
  • 13 of 19 goals scored at home came 2nd half.

Karabukspor (18th and bottom)

  • Only 2 wins this season includes today's opponents.
  • 13 losses in their last 15 matches.
  • Only 1 clean sheet.
  • Failed to score in 4 of their last 5 matches.
  • Conceded 2+ goals in each of their last 7 away matches.
  • 3-2 and 2-0 losses away v top 3.

Conclusions

  • I would put that Karabukspor win v Basaksehir down to early season optimism and potential ring rustiness.
  • Since then, they have struggled to even draw.
  • On form we should expect a home win and the scoring of 2 goals at least by Basakeshir. They are conceding though v bottom sides at home, a rather unwelcome habit.
  • If 0-0 at halftime, fear note. Huge proportion of Basaksehir goals scored 2nd half at home.

SCOTTISH F.A.CUP

19:45 - Albion v St Johnstone - 1.32 St Johnstone

  • The Scottish F.A. Cup sees a League One side play an SPL side.

Albion

  • Recent form home and away - scored and conceded in 14 of their last 16 matches ; only 2 wins in 14 matches.
  • Recent form at home - only 2 wins in 9 matches; only 1 win in 6 matches.
  • F.A.Cup recent form home and away - recent wins v Queen of the South and East Kilbride. Lost recently to Celtic.
  • F.A.Cup recent form at home - 4 losses in 5 matches includes Rangers and Celtic.

St Johnstone

  • Recent form home and away - 2 draws and 2 losses last 4 matches.
  • Recent form away - 3 wins and a draw includes wins over Hibernian and Rangers. Solid stuff away.
  • F.A.Cup recent form home and away - 3 defeats in 4 matches v Queen of the South, Kilmarnock and Partick Thistle.
  • F.A.Cup recent away - last away match was 2015.

Conclusions

  • Both teams to score is a very strong Albion trait and logically we'd be keen to lay Albion were Albion to score today (and hopefully keep the both teams to score pattern continuing against better opponents).
  • I am not sure St. Johnstone are up for the cup. 3 defeats in 4 matches includes a loss to a team Albion recently beat in the Fa Cup.
  • There is no getting away from St. Johnstone's excellent away form, albeit in the SPL.
